If it were me, I wouldn't have had a package sent UPS Ground if I knew there was a chance of a hurricane coming. But I'm also not retarded

Agreed

Hah, well, clearly had I known, I wouldn't have done it. At the time that I sent the package, the hurricane had just as much a chance of hitting MY house (on the other side of florida) or even texas for that matter.

As for how I know where it is - the UPS tracking page clearly states that the package was left at "front door."

But seriously, does THIS look like a good situation for a cardboard box?
You paid for guaranteed delivery by a certain date. UPS held up its end of the deal. The rest is YOUR problem, not theirs.

That's an incredibly insightful and well thought out comment. So if UPS was delivering a nice shiny new Apple computer to you, and you paid for two day delivery, you'd expect them to leave it outside on your doorstep in the pouring rain?

Don't be an idiot. UPS has a certain level of responsibility of ensuring the package gets to you undamaged. I have had MANY, MANY packages *not* delivered by UPS because they didn't want to leave my package when someone wasn't home. (because I lived in an apartment building, or because the weather didn't permit, or because it was something obviously valuable that they chose not to leave unsecured.)

It seems reasonable that this would be left up to the discretion of the driver, which I approve of, and in this case, I'm just saying I think it was an amusingly poor choice.

If I knew a hurricane was coming, I'd call up my UPS facility and tell them to hold my package.

Because you'd expect them to not know about it?!? 😕
