A guy that works for me said the UPS driver told him that since the Sept. 11 attacks, they cannot leave pkgs w/o signature anymore. I guess since I live on the edge of suburbia in a quiet little subdivision and have had MANY pkgs delivered over the last 4 years that they trust me enough and I trust them enough...haven't had to sign for a UPS pkg in years...FedEx is another story...but at least with FedEx I can pick up the pkg the same night.

<< I *highly* doubt the UPS drivers are strong enough to just "chuck" a 50lb monitor on your porch. And the UPS doesn't sprint hoping not to be seen. If the driver gets all of his packages delivered fast, he gets to go home early. >>

Apparently you haven't met the complete range of UPS delivery guys, some of them rival the gorillas that beat up on your package before it gets put on the truck :)

I completely understand the whole "go home once all your deliveries are done," but that's still no excuse for not even ringing the door bell. Follow that up with the customer service people that won't even talk to you until its after 7pm and then sometimes the still won't say anything other than "it might still come tonight" and you have one really reliable company.

Unless, of course, you're some sort of business, then they'll bend of backwards to make you happy. For an individual, you're lucky if they return your phone calls when they misdeliver your package.

I sure wish UPS had "pick up from service center" option from the beginning at lower rate so delivery to your house wouldn't be attempted in the first place.

<< I hate it when people do that. Guess what. Everytime someone pulls that UPS bills me an ADDITIONAL $10 >>

Ditto. But, actually, it's $5.00 for the reroute charge. In any event, whenever a customer calls and has it sent somewhere other then the listed address, the vendor gets nailed, and doesn't even know it until the statement arrives. It should be the customer getting hit with the charge.

Russ, it's $10 for air/international. I do way too many of those. $5 is for ground.

BTW I just got back from the UPS station and talked with one of the guys. If anyone is intersted, I can get you a scanned copy of the universal "Leave the package at my door no matter what" form.
