Ace's

Look, Ace's has given THG treatment to its review, but this time it's to the AMD side...

I mean overclocked and compressor cooled AMD with air cooled P4EE, hmmm... that's fair...

I really hate to do this, but now Intel fans can retaliate the attacks on them based on Tom's review...

Not to mention that almost all the benchamrks are AMD friendly...

edit, I didnt even read the link. 😀 How is it biased to test out an overclocked chip? They mentioned in the article that they would have liked to test the ee but the cooling head is cpu specific, and didnt fit the p4. What is it outright bias to oc a chip than put its performance on a chart with other chips?

Do you remember that in THG, they OCed the P4EE and everyone is pissed...
Moreso when some of the tests are clearly done with configurations that showcases P4's power...

Now, we have the same situation but reversed, AMD 64 is tested while overclocked heavily on the tests that they traditionally excels at...

What I am trying to say is when AMD 'cheats' people sort of steer clear and stay quiet, when Intel 'does' in THG, both THG and Intel is scorned, it's just not fair...

Should we blacklist Ace's as well?

Unfortunately, since the "CPU head" is specific to a particular type of CPU, and we did not have a version for the Pentium 4, we were not able to use the nVENTIV cooling solution on the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition. It is available, however, and some reviews show that a Pentium 4 can reach beyond 4 GHz with this system. The 3.4 GHz P4 EE benchmark results shown in this review were using aircooling.

nah personally I see a distinction; that article seems to be more about the vapour phase change cooling system and a second focus on how a FX overclocks/scales up. The P4 there seems to be just as a reference CPU. Further, the benchmarks are "favourable" to AMD because theyre nearly all gaming ones, given the context of the site -- and if you want to do a quick review thats relevant to readers -- that makes some sense.

If you want to accuse Ace's Hardware of bias in their AMD stuff then you should be looking at their "Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX and Pentium 4 Extreme Edition" review - http://www.aceshardware.com/read.jsp?id=60000253

Either way I think anyone is daft to base purchase of expensive hardware on the view of one website reviewer.

Where's the cheating here? They CLEARLY mentioned why they couldn't OC the P4EE higher. Either you can't comprehend what you read, or you're trying to start trouble where nobody but you sees it.

I didn't read the article. That's my upfront disclaimer. I could care less what a benchmark says about any processor. But, from reading this thread, it seems that the reviewers "cheater" and not AMD. And furnthermore, it's hardly cheating when they state the fact one was OC'd and the other was not. They didn't pass it off as a straight head-to-head bench.

Relax.

Not even close my man... what THG did was photochop a top of the line P4, overclocked it and then tried to pass it off as the real thing! They stated nothing about it in the article!

What you are suggesting it not even close what THG did!
