I hate those Lexus commercials!

I mean who the fvck gives a car like that to someone as a Christmas gift?

Wife: "Honey, come outside."

Husband: "Why sure sweetheart."

Wife: "I just cleaned out our savings and children's college money to buy you a new Lexus for Christmas!"

Husband: "Why you little b!"

It is so blatantly materialistic and vain it is unreal.

BTW: I am not a Lexus hater. In fact, I even have one. I just hate that one Christmas commercial it makes me want to trade in my car.

It must really bug you to want to get rid of your Lexus. Most luxury product commercials assume their market are shallow, materialistic people. I wonder if it's true, or just a false perception of advertisers. No one can get me to give up my Lexus SUV, though!

lol, I always thought the same thing. It doesn't bother me but it makes me say "wtf??"

hehe those Intel commercials wig me out. People wonder why there are greedy little backstabbing bastards everywhere. It because of commercials that are for shallow materialistic people. True, everyone decide's what is right and wrong in their own mind, but commercials would not exist unless they worked. I guess what I am saying is that more greedy little bastards marry other little greedy bastards, and produce even more greedy little bastards. Tautological reasoning, but it is true.

Lexus=Toyota with a badge.

Who would want a Lexus SUV? Whenever I see one, the first thing I think is that that person got ripped off. I mean is it that much better than a 4runner? Nope.

It is all about money and labeling. I mean look at aspirin the next time you goto the store. Bayer and Excederin will be way more than the generic. I am sure there are some quality differences in the two products(very small), but it is still Aspirin. People pay for brand names. Why do people wear upscale clothing store's products? Once again the quality may be better, but you are paying for name.

I really like the Intel commecials because I actually got to see "Blue Man Group"
when I was in Las Vegas last year. Their act is much, much better than the commercials
make out. (I still bought and AMD T-bird though 🙂 )

Remember, any commercial you saw during the holiday season was made by a company desperate
to make a profit before years end.

DOggiedog, if you trade in your car you'll just end up seeing it on all the
"pre-owned" Lexus ads next month.

Damn. Those pre-owned Lexus ads suck too. The ones here in NYC have this woman sales manager who looks likes a damned heroin addict. They have been running the same stupid ads during Knicks and Rangers games for over a year!

<< I mean is it that much better than a 4runner? >>

Way better. My friend has the latest top of the line 4runner, I have the latest RX300. No comparison. Especially in the little details. Easily worth the extra cash. Even abroad where there is no Lexus name, the RX300 sells very well (I believe it's called Toyota Soarer or something like that abroad) Can't speak for the other models since I've never owned any other Lexus cars.

The RX300 is called the Harrier in Japan. The Soarer is the SC.

And yes, the quality differences between the Lexus and Toyota are noticeable. Some people say MBs have very nice sounding doors when closing them. Lexus also has little things about them that indicate excellent quality. For instance, the accelerator pedal on my GS300, when I step on it has a very nice give to it. It doesn't feel spring or rubber band like as opposed to all the other cars I've driven in my life. The pedal feels almost like a meshed gear. Its very hard to explain unless you drive one yourself.

Calling a Lexus a rebadged Toyota is like calling a Porsche a rebadged Audi which is in turn a rebadged VW.

I didn't buy my car because I'm a greedy little bastard. I've worked for every single thing I've gotten in my life. My parents are destitute (my father had a stroke) and through my hard work I'm helping my family.

I bought my Lexus because it's a kick-ass car and I think I deserve to reward myself for my hard work.

I think the commercial is outta hand. Com'on in real life who the heck gets a lexus for christmas. I rather get the CASH!
