I can't do that either. Hell, I can't even use the actual 'alarm' to wake me up. I always have to use the radio. If I use the alarm or crank the volume I DO wake up, but my nerves feel shot the rest of day.

I just can't understand that logic. You are tired in the morning and want more sleep. Thus, your solution is to wake up 10, 20, 30, 60+ minutes earlier every single day and have horrible sleep if any at all for that last amount of time. How is a guaranteed less sleep situation possibly going to help your problem of wanting more sleep?

No. I'll set my alarm 30 minutes later than you, get 30 minutes more sleep than you, and then wake refreshed. That way, I won't need the snooze button.

That only works if the extra 30 minutes guarantees that you wake up refreshed. Otherwise, you just wind up hitting snooze for 30 minutes either way. So might as well start earlier so you are up in time.

I have to do the same thing. I'm NOT a morning person. It doesn't matter if I get 10 hours of sleep. I'm always dragging if it's before 10 AM.

That's me, too.

The best thing I've found is a thermostat timer. It's set to crank the heat just before I need to be up, so it gets too warm under the covers. I keep it pretty cool overnight, so th difference of five or six degrees is noticeable. Makes me want to get up on time, and there's no incentive to get back in.

You'll be a heck of a lot more refreshed than you are without those 30 minutes. I'm definately not a morning person either. I detest mornings. The butt-crack of dawn is the worst possible time. That said, I'd still rather get 30 minutes more sleep. Then just have the willpower to drag myself out of bed. With that extra 30 minutes, I'll be far better off 5 minutes after the alarm went off than you are. Sure, that is a miserable 5 minutes, but the extra sleep is worth it.

I moved my alarm clock across the room to get myself at least kind of awake. It sort of works. I mean, I'm up now and I could have slept till 230. :p

THat thing would be duct taped to the side of my night-stand before it even had a chance to move.

Oh, and ive never used the snooze button in my life. Usually I wake up 30 seconds before my alarm clock goes off. Its really weird.

Yea, I tend to wake up about 2 mins or so before my alarm clock goes off, too. I never get up, though. Heck, sometimes I'll turn off the clock before it even goes off...

i don't use snooze, i don't recommend it, it is a bad thing, makes you lazy

just get up when you are supposed to get up
if you are not getting enough sleep, get more sleep, go to bed earlier

I tried a gradual-wake alarm clock, but it doesn't really help. It starts the beep quiet and gets louder.

I think that I've had alarms where the snooze disables after too many presses, the alarm just keeps going. Not positive because rational thought isn't the best at that moment in time.

I am the king of oversleeping. I've slept through my alarm clock before (It has two alarms on it, one plays the radio, one beeps. Imagine them going off at the same time). I can get up hit the snooze button across the room under my desk and go back to sleep like it never even happened. I recently started setting an MP3 alarm clock on my computer, so I atleast wake up to a song I like, then I have to turn my computer on (from standby) and shut off winamp.

What's the point of the snooze button? When it's time to get up, it's time to get up.

EDIT: I never use it.

what pisses me off is that i end up waking 30-45 minutes before my alarm goes off because i have to piss. its almost never fails, no matter what i drink that night.

I keep the alarm clock away from next to my bed, in order to shut it off, I have to get out of bed. Unfortunately, you quickly become immune to that and walking over to turn it off and then falling asleep again becomes a routine process.
