I disagree, alcohol has been a huge part of leisure time for thousands of years and people wanting to drink on the weekend really isnt an issue IMO.

It's weird to me that here in NC I have to go to an special "ABC Store" just to get hard alcohol. And, of course, those stores aren't open Sundays either. I'm originally from California and you can get the hard stuff at any grocery store, so this is totally weird for me. At least we can still get beer and wine at the grocery store even on Sunday.

its not detremental to me i just get annoyed when stores are closed and i need to buy things

ill just get it today its not a bid deal, i finished off the last of my burbon during the Sox game on saturday, and figured id get some more, as well as pick up some other things as i was low on a few, + i wanted to make rum runners because they are sweet and needed stuff for that

i was all set and ready to spend a few hundred $$ on booze and the store was closed

there are 2 in my town both closed, next town is like a 20 min drive away, and well i didnt feel like doing that to find out they were closed also,

When we were in TN is completely boggled me that a store couldn't sell both beer and liquor. Liquor stores existed as separate stores because the larger ones all chose to stock beer. Around here, when people call something a liquor store they're usually referring to a smaller market or a stop-and-rob.

Back in Vermont every gas station and supermarket had all sorts of booze, only hard stuff did you have to go to a "licensed" store to get it, beer and wine was everywhere. Here, I have to go to a specific store, which means travelling a ways since there isn't one within walking distance of me.

its like that in Maine also, where i gre up, i went to college in PA and well yea PA sucks, cant even get beer at a gas station, however they do have brew throughs which are sweet

And you can't get jack shit in supermarkets...beer is about it.

Back in CA the supermarkets would have a decent selection of wine.

Though there is a liquor store right by pretty much every supermarket here.

yea that always pissed me off. Kroger (king soopers) in Texas also has a pretty decent wine selection. why cant the stores in colorado do the same. i know its a law but it sure would be nice to have one stop shopping when one is in the mood for a nice dinner with wine.

also you ever notice that car dealers are closed too? that also is a blue law, no car sales on sunday.

WWJD?

He would let his friends drive home drunk and resurrect them after they crash into something. Or he would stay home and turn water into wine and/or hard liquor and perform whatever miracle he wanted on the Sabbath. I mean that would be in the New New Testament, if there was one.

Jesus would find a loophole in the law by selling bottled water and turning it to wine just after the purchase.

Blasphemy! Jesus doesn't follow man's law.

I live in Connecticut where the laws are the same as yours and have never in my life had the blue laws interfere. How the hell hard is it to buy your booze the other 6 days of the week?

It's a problem that why are we bound by such laws.

Our Blue Law just got lifted. The county kicked it down to the cities/towns to decide whether to uphold or not (no alcohol sales before 12pm on sunday). Once the people went apeshit over those that didn't follow the county, everyone lifted them.

There is a separate law about no sales after 1am here, but that is more crime based than philosophy. Still I don't agree with the basis for them either. They state someone buying alcohol at 1am and later is more than likely already drunk, is more likely to commit a violent crime, is more likely to ....These are lobbied mostly by MADD/SADD and on these tickets a lot of side issues get pushed through.

Last I checked, you are supposed to be innocent until proven otherwise here.

Well many would claim it'd be grape juice.

I know, the nonSunday laws are ridiculous. It is totally a violation of curch and state law. Some will argue that is not, then my arguemnt to you is--why don't you make the day Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday? Why Sunday?

In Michigan, you can't buy from 2 AM on Sunday to Noon--I guess this is supposedly when you are supposed to go to church.
