They sting, but damn they do wonders.

I think you mean a styptic pencil (or pen)

Yeah, those mofo's sting like crazy, but they will stop the bleeding from most small nicks and cuts.

Truly, you need to get yourself into a mindset where the closest of shaves is not important. Shave in the morning, however it turns out is how it turns out. If you've got the five-o-clock shadow thing going on right after you shave, nothing is going to eliminate that.

You're being too critical of yourself IMO. You have to work with what you've got.

Over 30 years ago I switched to an electric to eliminate ingrown hairs on my neck. It worked, but I don't get as close a shave as a razor. I've learned to deal with it.

I'm getting tired of getting jacked at least once a week before lunch.

As you've already stated you've gone against the grain, I am guessing you've got dark beard hairs on lighter skin. Short of electrolysis, waxing, or depilatories, I don't think you're ever going to be satified with any kind of shave.

You are always going to be able to see the tip of the hair/root beneath the surface of the skin due to the color contrast. You have to either rip those hairs out or cover them up with some kind of make-up. Sorry I can't be of that much more help. Maybe someone else will.

don't use soap it only dries out your skin. you should use a nice hair conditioner as your shaving base. wake up warm your face with warm water apply hair conditioner into your beard with warm water. just shave with the grain and report back with results. use a 3 blade or two blade razor preferably.

I exaggerated a bit. I'm in pretty good shape (though the beer is taking its effect on my gut). ;)

Any of my superiors will pick me up for it when they see it. Not my immediate staff because they know better, but the MCpls/Sergeants that don't see me often.

I have a bit of a shadow right after shaving, too.
I just live with it. It's not worth the trouble to try to go for the "perfect" look.

And there's this too.

I hate shving too, especially the manual ones. I got an electric a few years ago but the only thing is the neck is very hard to do. I can pass many times but it just wont pickup. I've thought of buying one of those philips one "we conquered the moon, we've conquered the sea, we conquered WW2... But nobody has conquered the neck, till now. We've even conquered , THE NECK". Or something like that. :p

It should be a standard to just wax the face. Shaving is so counter productive, because it grows back anyway. But going to a wax salon and getting your face waxed would just be, weird... but if it was a standard thing...

I've found that shaving in the shower reduces my irritation quite a bit. I shave at the end of my regular shower, and by then my face and stubble is a bit more pliable and ready to be shaved. Then I get to work with the Mach 5. I still get the little cuts and a bit of irritation, but it's way better than shaving without the shower first.

And then I hit my face with that Nivea for men stuff... that REALLY helps me out.
