I think the problem is that you are unable to think about anything other than Iraq. Most of us have the mental capacity to think about more than one thing. If you feel this strongly about it, why aren't you in every single thread that is not focused on Iraq making this same point?

Of course if you guys where talking about which motherboard is the best, I am not gonna get into Iraq. But if you are talking about mistake politicians make, how many politicians can actually boast about making mistakes that killed thousand of people from his own country, put another country into civil war, and push countries around the war to arm themselves so they are not gonna be the next Iraq.

I'm not sure exaclty how many but whatever the number of congressman that voted for this war is your answer.

So are we now unable to criticize anyone besides GWB? Thats a little silly if you are going to just blindly vote for whoever is running just because they are not GWB. You should probably rethink your argument. You should probably keep a lookout for the threads that pop up every now and then that criticize other Republicans and go tell the Dems to stop, because hell we aren't allowed to criticize anyone but GWB anymore.

The ability to spell is overrated. One can be able to spell, but not write well (I'm one of those). And one can have atrociou es spelling but otherwise be a literary genius; forxample George Bernard Shaw.

What "card" are you pulling? You're complaining about hypothetical behavior of the media...maybe you could wait till something ACTUALLY happens to create a thread.

I laughed my ass off when Dub was in China and tried to duck the press, then went to the locked door and kept pulling on it in the hopes it would open.....

So now, Hillary and the AP are at fault due to the mis-spelling of the presenters of this event - or somehow this is all a "liberal" media cover for her or the Democrats....

This "liberal" media is owned by Big Business - so cry some more and look for someone to blame for the state of events, when truth is: you are to blame for this age we live in....

So Hillary unveils her new technology plan. Apparently the future is devoid of spellcheck. ToMMorrow
Come on, that's funny. You have to wonder how that one slipped by.

But this is the photo the AP is running with.
Link

Now, granted, GWB ain't the smartest tool in the shed (just go with me on that description - it fits) but how many of you think the AP wouldn't have chosen the former pic over the latter to blast all over the wires if Dubbya was standing there instead of Hill?

Sure, the pics are there in the photo archive, but you have to look for them and the angles on most of them omit the error. The only one that counts is the one used on the front page of the story.

/weak useless rant & idle speculation

If anything it's a frightening/funny sign of our time... all these smart people and none of them can spell. :p

Heh, the sitting president thought there were WMD in Iraq and invade the country to find out there were none. And killing tens of thousand of Iraqis and thousands of American in the process. And you are worried about Hillary's people mis-spelled something.....okay.

17 posts from nothing to do with Iraq... to Iraq. You guys are slowing down in your old age...

Bush has his own sign to live down, but at least the sailors aboard the aircraft carrier can spell.

This isn't news I'm afraid. Bias in the media is well documented and well known.

Heh, Unfortunately, Reality IS Partisan When One Party Is Anti-Reality.

This reflects the "new" history of rightwing media strategy:

Don't try to take over the newsrooms. Instead, take over the corporate suites, editorial boards and political columns. By doing so you (1) Make the "balancing" of opinion the cardinal virtue that then infects the reporting of news itself, (2) Establish the parameters of what constitutes "left," "right" and "center," and shift the entire spectrum sharply to the right, and (3) Set the agenda of what counts as news, as well as how to cover it in light of (1) and (2).

Naturally, a media system that has conformed to the right's intended plan will be extremely hostile to reality-based criticism. That's the whole point: it is impervious to reality, whether it comes in through the front door in the form of news, or through the side door in the form of media criticism.

Thus, this complaint:

I'm not sure what can be done to make it any clearer that media criticisms have nothing to do with a desire that journalists be more partisan.

This misses underlying the point that reality and reality based partisanship have, over time, come to be one and the same thing. This is particularly evident as the GOP becomes increasingly anti-science, as well as anti-transparency in government. Reality is the enemy of authoritarianism. And increasingly, that is the partisan, as well as ideological divide in America today.

Given the nature and existence of this divide and the media's assimilation of the rightwing media agenda "journalists" will automatically be on the Republican/conservative side, attacking us for being partisan.

Wow, wow, wow...

It was a simple question. Only needed a simple answer.

So I'll mark your vote down as "Dubbya would have received the same treatment by the AP". Kthanxbye.
