Tell him what's what. Explain to him that the rest of you work for your money and prefer not to waste it like water down the drain. If he can't comprehend that, he needs to not be a friend.

Now a comment from someone who in all of your point of view is spoiled...

Ok, I am a senior in college, I work after school, and am working at school during the summer. I dont pay for my education my parents do, I dont pay for my housing, most of my food, my car, and such. At no point did I tell my parents to do this, or nor did I ever really ask them to. Simply put, my parents care for me a lot and dont want me to be in debt when I graduate from college. I am extreamly grateful for what I have and what I have been given, and I NEVER insult what other poeople have if its less then me. The majority of my friends are a lot less well off then me, and I in no way insult them about it. My parents are even nice enough to offer atleast 2 of my friends a room if they ever end up without a place to stay, or cant afford one.

The plan is when I graduate college I am off the of the money, and must fend for myself. Again I do work, I am pretty good in handling my money, and am acconting major so that doesnt hurt either.

If tomorrow my parnets told me I was cut off....well I would be screwe din the short term cause I would not be able to pay everything I woul dhave to pay. But in the long run I would be able to cut back, and get by. Ive even told my parents that if they wanted to they didnt have to pay for my college and would be fine taking loans out. ONE problem...I cant for atleast a year becuase apparently to get financial aid I would need to be independant for a year..that would be a year without college.

/end spoiled guys point of view

The guy you describe is spoiled..but he is also an ass. Why would you get your grandparents RETIRMENT money to buy a house. They are old, let them have the money they earned. And the fact that he insults and makes fun of people less fortunate then him really shows what kind of a man he is. Sadly...there is a reason why so many succesfull people are assholes.

it's not about whether you have money or not, it's alla bout how you're raised. my family is well off, but i definitely have college loans. i'll probably be 50-60k in debt by the time i finish my BS if loans stay the way they are (this year was 13k i think). my parents are paying the loan bills (ie, interest), but i dont think they're paying the entire loan. if so, i owe them teh $$$$$

Maybe you should drive over to his mom's house and teach her how to raise a child.

And EVERY TIME he makes fun of someone's stuff because what someone else bought him is better, throw that fact in his face. Remind him that he would have sh!t if he wasn't being supported by others.

Yeah, I hate spoiled kids too, but some of your replies are coming off as jealous b*tching.

True.

Spoiled people are one thing, but smug people who go on about how independent, great, self-motivated, etc. they are can be alot worse. They'll never mention that they just had lots of opportunity

Not intended towards OP.

I am just saying that accepting help is not the worst thing a person can do. But acting spoiled about it is what I think the OP is getting at.

Also true.

I can see why you don't want to associate with someone that shallow and irritating. Who wants to be around people like that?

If by "people" you mean "hot chicks who've gotten lots of free sexy lingerie," then I'd want to associate with them. (in bed)

more like "I suspect my pseudo friend has a small penis so he overcompensates with a nice car and a house."
