WOOT!

In going crazy waiting for a person on the phone, I finally found something on the netgear website about a reset button. Now in my inital search through the router physically and all documentation, I couldnt find any mention of it.

I did a very thorough search and found a button that looked exactly like an exaust hole that the thing is filled with.

Pushing and holding yeilded a reset and now I can access the control pannel again!

Happy days!

I still effin hate Netgear and their wonderful "support".

D-Link has horrible support as well. I waited on the phone for 45 minutes on a Friday afternoon to get their stupid outsourced support to get on the phone. He talked me through a few steps, and I finally got the router to work...only that my roommate noticed the reset button, rather than the tech on the phone telling me to.

Now the router drops connection intermittently, and it has finally died. I went out and bought a Linksys, no problems with setup, and an overall solid construction. I guess the moral of the story is that you get what you pay for. Linksys all the way for me now. I can vouch for their products - have no experience, with their support, however.

Ok, next time you go through what i did to find a frikkin reset button that is NOT LISTED ANYWHERE on ANYTHING. Then deal with what I did with the frikkin support and a house full of people not able to get their net fix. SO screw you.

****Public Service announcement****

If you have a device (router, cable modem, etc) that has settings you can customize, then 97% of the time it will have a reset button that you can push with a straightened paperclip. If you RTFM and it is not in there, search around for it and you will most likely see it.

mechwarrior, there are some assclowns that bring down off topic. but not in networking forum, they would have helped you out instead of berating (?) you.
