I love living in Boston.

I hate my job.

One of my co-workers is obnoxious, and blames absolutely everything on me.

For instance, I wrote a script that manages our database servers. My boss asked a question to us, and my co-worker responded:

"Matt wrote it <that way>. When I rewrite it, I'll make sure I write it <this way>."

First of all, why does he need to "rewrite it"? And second of all, my script is COMPLETELY tunable to do what my boss wants, with just a couple configuration changes. So no, my script is not "broken", it just isn't tuned correctly in its configuration file, which I wrote to be VERY flexible!

I hate my co-worker. He sucks, and every idea I have is shot down, too, which makes things worse.

You better make sure to go and explain to your boss what you just said here. Don't let yourself be a doormat or soon your boss will be looking for a replacement.
 
Steps to get rid of your co-worker.
1. Wire up a blinking LED device on a breadboard. Leave some loose wires attached to a bit of silly putty on it.
2. Attach it to said co-workers car.
3. Watch the police over react.
4. Profit.

Hopefully you said it like this...
"I don't know why *coworker* wants to rewrite the whole script. It would be a waste of time and resources. What I wrote can be easily and quickly changed to get what you want. Let me know what you want to do."

Learn to be strategic in your comments, but not overly critical.

Matt, from our dealings you seem like a very cool guy, I would highly recommend you start shopping yourself, get your resume out there. Find something else and kiss these assholes goodbye, you deserve better.
 
You just need to strategically get him fired. It'll take time and a lot of work though but be careful because they can see right through that.

I'm sure your boss is seeing the way your coworker is wording things, and if you show your boss he is wrong your coworker will look like a tool. Don't point fingers or play the blame game. There are no problems, only solutions. If you come up with better solutions, you win.

Or like MmmSkyscraper said, push him down the stairs.

Andy: In order to take down Dwight, I have to chip away at his ally, which, in this case, is Michael. Here's the good news. Every success I've ever had at my job or with the lady-folk has come from my ability to slowly and painfully wear someone down.
 
Have you considered the possibility that your coworker is blaming absolutely everything on you because it's your fault?
 
Too late now, but when he said that, you should have replied back and ask him why it needs to be rewritten.

Now, confront him and ask him why it needs to be rewritten. If it's a bullshit reason, let your boss know. Also, let him know how this other guy acts and treats you. No need for asshats like that.

Way to let that douche walk all over you.. you've set a standard for yourself now.
