How often to emplyers check to see what degree you get or even your gpa? Just lie and say you were CS...no big loss...worst thing that will happen is they will say NO...but might get you a few interviews.

You can always learn your networking later, how hard are certifications to a CS grad?
I'd suggest moving to a small town with an ISP or some PC repair shop and getting a job there. In a town of 1500-2000 people, $7 an hour can support you, not very well, but not starving. I had a job like that for about two years in a town of 2500 - paid $6 an hour. It was only a summer job, but it still was halfway decent money and a relaxed atmosphere. But if you don't want to move from a big city (I'm guessing your home is fairly large since you have a Best Buy), then you're stuck working jobs like that in a place that doesn't respect a certification. If you move to a small town, you'll start out with more respect for your abilities because you have experience and a certificate on the wall. Then, after a few years, you'll gain respect for your outstanding work. Try it, you'll like it. Good luck!

No sympathy from me, go get a real degree with real world applications. You wanna work with computers? Go get a CompSci degree, but be prepared to study a little harder than you did in that last degree.
