i hate my computer

at least in summer...

The amount of heat generated and exhausted in the back is just insane....this only talking about my CPU/memory/chipset - and it gets REALLY insane once i start playing a game and my X850XT kicks in and adds it's share.

Grilled chickens anyone ? I can hang some at the back of my case.

I have A/C on, living under the roof...but the room is HOT....i seriously consider downclocking and lower voltages at least for summer....

(A64+ 3500+ at 9x291=2621mhz, X850XT)

btw. i have C'n'Q on (respective rightmark cpuclock), so when i am idle i am fine, downclocked and running at 0.90V...system is nice and cool...but play a game and the insanity starts 🙂

WHAAAAA, MY COMPUTER MAKES ME HOT.

Are you serious, you have the AC on and its still hot?

Wow, what kind of AC are you using

Yeah. In the summer I like my pos HP better. My room gets unbearably hot. AC doesnt' do jack (central air anyways).
hint: What I do is leave my windows and my doors open, and I use a fan next to my computer as an exhaust. When I'm doing "normal" stuff I underclock by ~400 or so mhz and decrease the voltage from 1.3 to 2.7 or so (but keep in mind I've got a powerhungry overheating prescott)

Thank you for the helpful comment. I am sure flexy appreciates it.

😱

it is just the way things are - i live in AZ and although we are having a incredibly cool summer, my comp room still sits around 83-85F when the rest of the condo is 78F.

the kind that cools the air probably

Fans. Or, get a window unit and put the computer right next to a window. 🙂

I remember some company also used to sell refrigerated cases. Whatever happened to that?

Lol, nice i have four pc in my office and without ac i would litterly die I am sure from the heat during the summer. Not to mention all the other electronics in the room like TV, VCR, DVD, Stereo, Projector, etc. Just bought a brand new AC too. I find that 12000 btu works great for at least 3 years before cleaning then I clean it and it works another year or two cooling well enough. After that cleaning or not I toss it because they dont cool as well the room gets too hot. So, i buy a new one every four years. Should be pointed out that I run it as a window fan during the winter as well because the room gets too hot unless it is really really cold out like below zero and I keep the heat off in the room all year as well.

If you are using central air then you probably need a duct cleaning, i think it costs like $60 Canadian to get a company to do it for you.

You may also consider relocating, when I used to be in the basement my CPU was happy at 40C, since I moved to the top floor my temps went up to 48C sometimes hitting 50C.

What you need is a window AC unit for the computer room. You can get a half-ok one for ~$140 and then you can keep the room at 68 F no matter what the rest of the house is like. When you think about the computer cost and what you pay for other cooling solutions, it isn't actually that much. And, if you are really out there and air cooling you can set it to max and put on a coat...

^^^ Yes!!! This is what I do in my room. No coat though, cause I like it COLD!!! BRR...

There's an honest answer. 😉 LOL

Imagine 7 3500+ cpu's in a 9x12 room. Talk about hot in the summer ! And I have central air. May be upgrading it to 3 tom though from 2 ton, so it can handle the extra load. I turn off 4 of them except for lan parties (my son has) and it's tolerable.
