Problems:
1. I installed Windows x64 yesterday
2. I want to play games
3. I cant play games unless I update my videocard drivers
4. I need the internet to download the drivers
5. I need the drivers for my internet to work
6. My CD drive cant read any burned CD's

WHAT CAN I DO!!! Windows x64 sucks.
Sorry about the caps, Im just out of options.

You can go to work, library, a friends house, Starbucks, ... download the drivers. Or, save your driver CDs from now on >>

it doesnt read the main cd's because I need flash player to use them. and x64 doesnt have flash player.
no cd came with my video card, only my internet.

There aren't many 64 bit drivers yet anyway, so some of your hardware may have no drivers to start with. save up $100 and you can get winxp home OEM from newegg.

USB drive?
You can't afford $87 for an OS?
Also you don't need flash to run the install. Right click your CD-ROM drive in "My Computer" and click explore and look for the right exe.

If you can't afford the most basic software your PC needs, you should sell it and use the PC's at the public library.
By the time you save up enough for an OS, your hardware will be so out of date, you won't want it anymore.

mhmm, thats kinda harsh he's probably just a kid, like me.
Harsh??? It's not harsh, it's called "the real world".
If he's going to be a computer owner and user, he needs some very basic things to do that... like an OS.
He can always download a Linux version for FREE.

Linux is horribly difficult for a teen to learn after becoming windows reliant for a long time, I don't want to start a moral war, I'll retract that comment about XP if asked -although I think it would be funny to know how many users here have legal versions of their OS's.

Kinda that lil secret no one talks about concept. I.E. Masturbation - most people do it, just don't admit it, atleast in forums that dislike talk of it(burning OS's, not masturbation), though it seemed like the only realistic viable option, though an illegal one, depending on where he lives.

You know... gas is pretty expensive, but I enjoy driving my car.
Maybe I'll just steal some from my neighbor so I won't have to pay for it. While I'm at it, I might as well steal some motor oil for my next change.
Life would be so much cheaper if I just started to steal everything I need or want.

BTW ComatoseDelirium, can I start my thieving carreer out at your house?

NO! I am also a "teen" but buying the OS is part of building a computer. What you told him is just the same as telling him he can go steal a videocard at best buy. If you cant afford the O.S. use linux. But don't promote theft.

EDIT: PS I have a feeling you are going to be banned.

ahh.. both valid opinions, though I still hold fast to the fact that we can make allowances for those who do indeed wish to use an OS, but cannot truly afford it. could be some microsoft PR stunt, but like I said.. don't want hostilities or a moral war, and, I do hope I don't get banned heh. Though I was fully aware of what I said was a bannable offence under the rules of this forum.

If he "truly" can not afford it he should of cut back his computer a little or saved up for a longer time. Just because I cannot "truly" afford a nice LCD does not mean I can just go pick one off the shelf and take it home with me.
