you sure its not just the first time? since it does say "activation"

I don't see it saying activation...it says "activity"

Needless to say I think I am going to close my account here. If it was a $10,000 checked I cashed....and wanted the money on spot. Then I could understand a fee. Seeing as it was a $90 deposit....thats nearing 10% of the value of the check. Screw them!

ah, i misread.. firebomb them

were you not notified of these charges? You should have been notified twice. Once when the policy was put into place, and again before the transaction was initiated.

nope the lady was a b!tch when I went to deposit that check. She's like "Whats your account number"

"Um....Can't you look it up(I have been gone from campus all summer"

"::rolls eyes::"

::hands drivers license::

::Writes it down::

"Bring this with you next time"

::cashes check::

"Here you go ::hands me receipt::"

:Q I have BofA and love it, my account is pretty much completely free. Except for any bonehead moves I make.

I think the fact that you said "Can't you look it up" made her roll her eyes. I would've simply said "Sorry, I don't have it memorized."

does all BoA have that restriction? i thought teller transactions were free.
I'm not sure if they do now, I originally opened my account about 7 years ago with another bank, but since then there were 2 mergers.

I would. I don't think the regular tellers would have the authority to refund the money and close the account.

If you got the $$$ get yourself a BofA Platinum acct. If you're poor, open an acct. at Washington Mutual.

First off, this isn't a bank, it's a credit union. Second off, they do disclose this information to you when you sign up for an account. I have had an account with them for 5 years. You should have known better. This isn't their fault.

I am glad you remember all the finer details of what they do and do not charge for. I however, have 3 banks and have come to expect to not be charged to deposit a check. Hell, I have deposited checks from a different credit union to this one, and I was not charged anything for doing that....I think that is crap.

Enjoy staying with this bank

I really don't see how this is their fault. And for the last time, THIS IS NOT A BANK. There are tons of banks in the greater Lafayette area that would love your patronage so why not go there?

Ok, its not a bank, its a credit union, I still don't expect to be charged to deposit money into my account.

As said in the original post, I am going to cancel my account and go somewhere else that doesn't charge to deposit money into my account. I think fee's charged should always be told to the member before it is done in a situation like this. I don't use this bank all summer so it is not easy to remember all the fine print specified when I signed up 3 years ago....

I closed out my account with them today. Wrote some nice comments on the reasons why I was closing the account.

They gave me a check, and surprise, they told me I would not be charged to cash this check in the branch....that makes sense, now that I am not a account holder, don't charge me.

Backwards logic if you ask me...

When I had my account with First Union they charged $8 if you went and did anything at the teller.. but it was a 1 time charge for the month.. so once you do it once you might as well do it a few times for that month.
