do you know if they have any bonuses going on right now? Sometimes the offer free $$ and such

You are probably too late for that. They had pizza vouchers and stuff opening week. But they are great guys. I have online banking setup so that I never have to do any tracking at all.

You can check it out. Small red brick building as you go down Chauncey just after Von's. You prb have seen it.

They gave me a free iPod a couple months ago for opening a Direct Deposit account.

I have never heard of a bank charging $6 to deposit a $90 check!

This is my local bank at school. Most of my money(thank god) is not at this bank.

Heres a copy of my chat with them

UPDATE 1: HERE

UPDATE 2: I am going to close my account with them and try to get my money back. But who knows, I might get charged for closing my account....or maybe even walking into the bank.

Every bank charges fees. EVERY BANK! Financial Institutions thrive on fee and service charges revenue. MOst of the banks apply it in methods the customer will not be aware of. None the less, it is a business, and they must earn fee revenue. You should have checked the the fee's that the bank charges when you initially opened the account and I hope you do that when you open an account at another bank.

Look into joining a local Credit Union.
Unless you like paying higher fees, higher interest rates on loans, lower rates for your deposits....
Credit Unions typically have lower fees, lower interest rates on loans, and higher rates for your deposits..Why? Because they are NON-Profit and member owned. Not share holder owned like banks!

Heck, stick it in your sock. No fees at all.

That was just one check, and my money is all in a different account which I had opened this summer, I had no yet transferred the funds. Now, I won't be transferring them to PEFCU

No bank I have ever used has charged me to simply deposit a check. Fees on loans...sure....buisness accounts...sure...but to deposit a $90 into a savings account? Bull

Odd, I've never heard of such a thing. I opened my BOA checking account in Jan and have used the tellers several times within one month. I've never been charged a "service fee" for any of these transactions.

Their webpage says - "Unlimited teller service" for basic checking.

ATMs & Banking Centers
No fee access to more than 5,800 Banking Centers coast-to-coast
No fee access to more than 16,700 ATMs nationwide
No fee access to more than 30,000 Global ATM Alliance ATMs around the world

I think you were charged for something else.
