I was worried I'd have problems with my 9700 pro as well as my NVidia cards ALWAYS worked.. no problems ever.
that's just bad luck that some of your games run like crap.

since I switched from my overclocked P4 to my XP2500+ my 3dmark2k1 score went down about 3,000 points to about 12,500 with a 9700 Pro. I guess I should really O/C the CPU...

sorry to hear about that though.. was one of my fears when switching to an ATI.

Did you flash to an unlocked bios? It's strength isn't a 3dmark score. It's IQ when running with AA&AF at acceptable frame rates.

The 9500PRO overclocks. You need to flash the bios. Instructions are at Rage3D.

And tomshardware.com got 12,600 with a P4 3.06 and 12,700 with a 2700+ amd, your point?

Ever think beyond the video card? Maybe because your OS is crashy.. or maybe its just time to re-install some software?

Yeah, that's really good. My wife's system gets 10,300 with a 9700 gold, 1gb DDR333 and 1700+ @stock. 700mhz and a better mobo countered by faster vpu really = 3000pts difference?

Hmmm...15500? Which is it

the first one did some really funky stuff so i went and got a powercolor 9700 that would hardly do 12k, then got this card

So you got a 9700 which funked on you, then a 9700 which was "slow" then this 9500 pro?

Ok.

Seriously, 13k is excellent. I wouldn't worry about it. And as far as CS and DAoC go...try running CS in D3D mode. DAoC: I actually bought a radeon to replace my gf2 when I first played it due to compatibilty issues with the nv card. *shrug*. I can't imagine why DAoC wouldn't run like a dream unless you haven't installed all your drivers (chipset etc). Maybe you should reformat?

You thought of setting your AGP speed at 4x? I *think* it might do a little, because 2x to 4x does surely give some extra performance.

mo,.the first card i got was a 9500, the store had no more so i got a 9700 which was a huge smelly turd of a card. now i have this.

As to the upgrade thing, I sold many computer parts to buy a car, when i started rebuilding I ended up with a ti4800se, which was a great card. I was diong a build for a guy that wanted the same card in his machine but it wasnt available so I gave him mine....

How do you figure that a 9700 is a "smelly turd of a card"? It's faster than a 9500 PRO. Plus most of them can reach 9700 Pro speed through a combination of GPU/memory overclocking. Sounds like an Nvidia fanatic who's simply out to bash ATI products.

Heck, wish I had your problems. I just went from a GF2MX to a Radeon 7000 and man... this is a stunning experience. All the images look brighter and crisper. DVDs and even avi files seem to play better (or maybe it only seems so). This seems so much better than that MX crap. I don't understand how you can hate a Radeon.

The 9700 i got was a pos, im not saying all are. I did almost 16k with a 9500 and the 9700 I got couldnt even get close to that.

I dont feel an need to bash cards, ATI has a record thta speaks for itself. Take thta anyway you want. A while back I was stuck using an old 7200 and I honestly think it was a better product , comparatively , than ati is putting out right now. It played everything very well, if a little slow.

There are way to many variances between manufactureres. The ati "experience " seems to swing both ways, either very happy or very disappointed. Im very disappointed. I honestly think thta any new card should be able to play anything already out, especially if its an almost 300 dollar card, after tax.
