A little night music by sondheim is my fave.

So many other treasures. Musicals are like spice an acquired taste. If you dont have a taste for it dont eat it. Dont hate on what you dont have a palate for.

I love musicals. Grew up doing a lot of performance type stuff until the end of high school, so I was always inundated with that type of content.

Some are crap, but some are quite good. Opera is great, too, of course.

Funny thing, if you actually get into Opera or simply understand the language (almost always Italian), it's basically the same content. I guess it just sounds "fancier" to most.

I can't watch musicals either. And while I don't like listening to opera, I have been to an opera one time in person and it was actually quite nice.

I don't mind musical movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas and South Park. Phantom of the Paradise is a classic.

What I'm not fond of is the Broadway musical style. When I hear the radio commercial for Wicked it makes me think of a Simpsons parody ("Help me Dr. Zauis!")

"No wizard that there is or was is evvvverrrr gonna bring meeeeeeee downnnn"

Gah!

Do animated films count as musicals? Cause there's an awful lot of Disney stuff I like, not to mention South Park. Monty Python's Meaning of Life was a great musical.

But, yeah, a lot of them are fairly insufferable.

They are so stupid. It's the same thing every time. The actors all sound the same, they sing in the same way. It sucks.

Let's all get together in a group. Let's all sing together. Let's all end the song on drawn out note.

BORING!

(OK I did sort of enjoy the monty python search for the holy grail musical.... And Wicked wasn't so bad except for the musical part of it)

This just means you still have your Man Card.

wasn't Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog the only good musical?

Dammit...forgot about this one. And South Park too...

As for if Repo is Opera, you might be right? I don't know, I always considered it in the same vein as Rocky Horror (which has no dance numbers either?)

I like Grease, and A Hard Day's Night. I made it through Moulin Rouge.

Other than that not a big fan of people breaking out in song.

I don't like musicals. But I am also a big fan of Takashi Miike films.
I was very hesitant & put this off for a long time.
Upon watching it, my regret of not watching it sooner was all consuming.
Had plenty of laughs & thoroughly enjoyed it. A favorite.
