They are so stupid. It's the same thing every time. The actors all sound the same, they sing in the same way. It sucks.

Let's all get together in a group. Let's all sing together. Let's all end the song on drawn out note.

BORING!

(OK I did sort of enjoy the monty python search for the holy grail musical.... And Wicked wasn't so bad except for the musical part of it)

I agree.

I like other grand performance art like Cirque & Lion King stuff. I saw so many musicals (Wicked, Rent, etc), I'm realizing I don't like any of them.

I'm generally not a fan, but there's been some I liked. Godspell, and Grease come immediately to mind.

Paint Your Wagon is about the only musical I can sit through without having to suppress a gag.

EDIT: Grease wasn't too bad, either.

Yep, can't stand them for the most part; I do like the original Grease and West Side Story movies, but all of the rest drive me nuts.

I don't either, the only musicals I've ever liked were Grease, Glee (sue me), Rent, Wicked, and really anything Kristin Chenoweth has starred in.

Agreed. I'm capable of suspending belief for some really stupid movie plots, but I find it nearly impossible to believe that a person or group of people would randomly break out in song as portrayed in musicals.

I can't help loving The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins if for no reason other than Julie Andrews.

Also "Repo!" has some good moments.

I've seen a few musicals. Some I liked, some were terrible. Saw Once earlier this year and liked it a lot. The singing was excellent.

Wow, that is my favorite musical.

Personally, I love musicals. It is a art style, and like any art style it has some standards. You expect the chorus, you expect that the show has a major musical theme that is going to be used over and over in the songs. You expect that the more important and emotional parts of the play will be sung, and the really important parts will be a dance number.

I don't like them either, therefore I don't watch them. Problem solved.

Repo: A Genetic Opera wasn't too bad..but otherwise..meh..

I'm not sure if Repo should be considered a musical or an opera. I don't remember any dance numbers, which would point to it being an opera, along with there only being a little dialog outside of the musical numbers.
