Umm, it's just a processor, relax.

No big improvements lately anyways (hardware or gaming wise) so hardware upgrades are not really all that "worth" it anyways.....

OP, Microcenter and Fry's are small chains that have very little market penetration. Microcenter has only 23 stores while Fry's has 32.

Most of us may never be able to take advantage of their in-store pricing because it is simply uneconomical to drive there.

Bad rant ...

2 blocks away from my house. :)

Why did the one in Santa Clara close if so many people like micro center?

We are very disappointed with the unsuccessful attempts to negotiate an economically viable extension of our store lease, and we deeply regret not being able to fully serve you going forward.

Had nothing to do with how many people like MC but rather their lease terms getting jacked up sky high on renewal. I've seen more than one business move due to ignorant landlords trying to extort more $$ for a lease.

One I remember was a McDonald's closing and moving when the land owner attempted the same sort of rape.....and a few years later, the land and old McD's building sit empty while the new McD's is trucking on along.

Guess land owners/landlords think they've got businesses over a barrel and would rather sit on empty lots and buildings rather than have paying tenants.

I never knew what a Microcenter was until I started a job 2 miles from one.

Now I see our IT guy go there at least 4 times a week, returning with trunkloads of goodies.

Every once in a while I go with him just to browse. I fell in love the first time I went. The sales people are annoying though, most are not much more qualified than a Best Buy salesperson.

The closest Microcenter to me is nearly 40 miles away, so I hardly ever go. Fry's is just 3 miles away, and I don't go there much either.

I did buy my current CPU and motherboard combo at Microcenter in the spring. The price was astounding even with sales tax, and I was already in the Tustin area helping a friend sight in his new rifle at his house.

A morning of gunfire followed by a trip to Microcenter...

We have a Fry's, but no Microcenter. ( ._.)

Not driving to Houston or Dallas, either...
