I could'nt find that one. Make it and I'll buy it.
This is the closest I've seen to that.

Ya the problem is the alternatives are not any better. Interventionist foriegn policy seems here to stay. Kerry himself even talked about 200,000 xtra troops for Iraq (don't know how w/o a draft) Clinton in bosnia, haiti. Bush1 iraq, panama, somailia.. Reagan all over south america. etc.

Thats because you operate under the assumption that somehow magically we can talk tyranical dictators into being loving members of our global society. Which is a pipe dream... Ask the sudanese... they'll tell you how effective diplomacy is.

Now I've seen it all.

Everyone here is so Anti-Everything it's crazy.

For probably being a 20-25 year old white male with a college education you sure can be dumbasses sometimes.

For being <insert your age/ethnicity/education here> I can say the same thing about you.

You're stoopid

Oh you think your cute mis-spelling "stupid"? Or maybe your the stupid one? Who knows.

My bad. I forgot the new American way is to love EVERYTHING America does. Why? Because its American!

I don't love you.... and you're from Vermont.

So there goes that theory.

Edit: and don't even go there with throwing around rhetoric.... What you just posted has absolutely 0 to do with what I just said... I never said I love everything american.... I gave a clear logical argument of why I believe magnetic ribbons are a good thing. I never said I support bush, or that I like apple pie. So don't put words in my mouth, and don't insult my intelligence with your bullsh!t rhetoric.

Sorry, I should have been more clear about my statement. The part about everybody loving everything American was directed towards Literati with his lovely blanket statement.

Wrong. See I don't care about tyrannical dictators, especially one we installed. Even more so since it costs me money. I live in America. The American military was never intended to engage in wars except in self-defense. The American people were never supposed to pay heavy prices in battle for the liberty of others. America was founded to secure rights for its people. It was founded as a great experiment in liberty, in freedom, in equality, in democracy, in republic ? not as a global policeman, and certainly not as a nation that goes abroad killing people in the name of such lofty ideals.

Who would bother stealing one of those ribbons? I mean, I think they're just bandwagon jumping mostly but who cares they really aren't hurting anything.

I respect your opinion as to what you feel America should be doing... I also disagree. I think that with great power comes great responsibility. Not because of some lofty moral ideal, but because the worlds problems are OUR problems. If we ignore them today, they will come to haunt us tommorow. We are very naive to think that we can ignore something like the rise of militant Islam, and think that somehow we will be spared the effects of such a powerful and violent movement. We are also naive to think that we can somehow disengage from our influence the world over, we live on an interdependant planet now, there is no longer a hole in the sand we can hide in.

What is the problem with militant islam? We've tried almost everything to get them. Maybe they need a hug?

This is a great John Adams speeh..very accurate and prophetic IMO

And now, friends and countrymen, if the wise and learned philosophers of the elder world, the first observers of nutation and aberration, the discoverers of maddening ether and invisible planets, the inventors of Congreve rockets and Shrapnel shells, should find their hearts disposed to enquire what has America done for the benefit of mankind?

Let our answer be this: America, with the same voice which spoke herself into existence as a nation, proclaimed to mankind the inextinguishable rights of human nature, and the only lawful foundations of government. America, in the assembly of nations, since her admission among them, has invariably, though often fruitlessly, held forth to them the hand of honest friendship, of equal freedom, of generous reciprocity.

She has uniformly spoken among them, though often to heedless and often to disdainful ears, the language of equal liberty, of equal justice, and of equal rights.

She has, in the lapse of nearly half a century, without a single exception, respected the independence of other nations while asserting and maintaining her own.

She has abstained from interference in the concerns of others, even when conflict has been for principles to which she clings, as to the last vital drop that visits the heart. She has seen that probably for centuries to come, all the contests of that Aceldama the European world, will be contests of inveterate power, and emerging right. Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be. But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example.

She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom. The fundamental maxims of her policy would insensibly change from liberty to force....

She might become the dictatress of the world. She would be no longer the ruler of her own spirit....

[America's] glory is not dominion, but liberty. Her march is the march of the mind. She has a spear and a shield: but the motto upon her shield is, Freedom, Independence, Peace. This has been her Declaration: this has been, as far as her necessary intercourse with the rest of mankind would permit, her practice.

I stole one of those lame ribbons once. I took it off a huge SUV (expedition or suburban). They are the most pointless things ever. Sometimes I wonder if some people actually think they are somehow helping the troops by sporting these lame ribbons...

Awww... so one gigantic gasaholic American made vehicle doesn't have its Chinese made support the troops magnetic ribbon anymore. Cry me a river.
Still, you're an asshat. Or, is stealing something you have no problem with?

Perhaps if someone stole your PC, your iPod, etc. you'd be fine with it? After all, it's just one more worthless consumer item.

Call me names if you want but no matter what you say, I really don't give a damn about those yellow ribbons. I think you will be happy to know the SUV probably pulled through. (hopefully no one in their social circle saw them without it 😱 ) At least till they made an emergency pit stop at the ribbon shop. 🙂

WTF you think WTC was bombed? certianly not by ignoring them, Osama even said so. And now they are working at a feverish pitch on WMD's to exact revenge for all that's gone down since. I have no doubt "the big one" will go off in Dallas or some other major city due to our inverentionist policies. Just a matter of time... then the clueless like you will continue demestic oppession, foreign wars, perpertual war... rinse repeat.

1. No need to call me clueless.... I've just said I respect your opinion, and I think I have demonstrated I'm not clueless.

2. Your argument doesnt address mine, there is no evidence to suggest that IF we were isolationist we could have avoided 9/11, nor is there evidence to support the idea that it's even possible to be isolationist.

Imagine if we withdrew all influence the world over, food aid, monetary aid.... etc etc etc.... would the world be a better place? Even if we managed to avoid 9/11 by pulling this aid, would it be worth it? World influence and foreign policy is a very delicate non-science. Screw ups are inevitable and only hindsight is 20-20.

The only name that fits you is: criminal.

Hope you're pleased with yourself. Your momma must be SO proud she raised a thief.

How many of us wish we were the ones to think of the magnetic sticker thing?
I saw one yesterday at a convenience store...
"a portion of the total proceeds will go to Tsunami relief"
So, they make $100,000 profit and donate $1 to the Tsunami relief?
