they were engineered in a lab in florida. they have no known predators besides peterbuilt and chrysler.

Except lakeflies are much, much worse. I was mowing yesterday (in MN) and I couldn't even see the gass there were so many of them sitting on the ground.

And of course, when you go by them with a mower, they all feel the urge to attack your face.
 
Love bugs suck..I agree.

Fortunately, I don't have do deal with them anymore..they haven't got this far north yet. If they do, hopefully they'll freeze to death. 😀

The thing with love bugs is that their acidic bodies eat the paint off your car if left on too long. They suck!!!!!

As a lot of other midwesterners have noted, Lakeflies are worse. Here in the Milwaukee area we don't get them, but go north for about 30 minutes and your car will be pulverizing them on the freeway 😛. Stupid bugs.
 
That's why I live in Maryland.

When the cicadas kick in though... it looks about that bad over here, plus the fact that you can't walk 10 feet without stepping on 30 or 40 of the sumb!itches.

I am about 100 miles north. How much grass in in Milwaukee as well as stagnant water.

I'd rather clean bird crap off my car than lovebugs...after a few days, they just don't come off..not without a lot of work, anyway. 🙁
 
Just got back from a trip to Memphis, we hit a swarm of honeybees at 80 MPH on the expressway, it looked like smoke across the road, they make a splat about the size of a silver dollar.

I had to pull off at the next exit and clean the windows, I must have hit several hundred!!!
 
Damn! That reminds when I drove through PA on the tollway. I ran into 5,000 fireflies.

Everytime they hit the windshield they would glow for a few seconds before they died!
