I hate LOTUS NOTES

Can someome tell me how to easily set up this in Lotus Notes: I want to send a daily email automatically to the people in my group. I want it to send at 12:01am everyday forever.

Seens like it would be easy, but the 'help' area is not helpful.

Also, I hate Lotus.

I don't think you can.

Correction. I don't think you can do this from the client. You need to do this from domino server.

Yep - Notes completely sucks.
You have my sympathy.

I'll add though, that this doesn't sound like something that is generally done from an email client? Can other clients do that?

I just quickly looked at Notes 6.5... There seems to be something called an Agent that you can create to do what you are talking about. Don't hold me to that or ask me how it works though. I don't even know how to archive.

Where do you want the content of the email to come from? A specific file? A database?

I had to use Lotus Notes for about a year, I didn't mind it once I figured it out. My only complaint was the fact that I was forced to use it (I'm an old Eudora fan). But at least it brought us all to the same page, much like Exchange+Outlook.

Yes you'll need a notes agent and there's a scheduler within the properties of the agent. I deal with agents everyday despite my hatred for lotusscript.

yep. it's gonna be an agent. I assume maybe this is for work, in which case you probably have a mail admin you can ask to help you in person. I personally don't write many agents, so don't know the details...

I appreciate the help guys. The email will be a daily email with the following subject: "----------------------------------------------------" and no text in the body.

That's right, just a long line. I want it sent at 12:01am to our 10-member team at work so we have a clearly visible date break in our Inbox. We just switched to v6.5 from an older version of Lotus that actually had a date line that clearly seperated each day's email, so this is our group's little workaround for that.

If anyone actually knows how to get that Date line back, that would be the best solution. Otherwise, I'll look into Agents.

Did i mention how much I hate Lotus?

I just tested the agent idea on a colleague - told it to send an email at 12:01 once a day. It immediately sent him 5600 emails with the subject "---------------------------------------------".

Was very funny.

may I ask why you need to separate days like that ? Does that mimic Outlook or something ? (I can't remember the last time I used another email client).

rh71 - we probably wouldn't need to seperate the days if we weren't so used to seeing it seperated on our previous versions of Lotus. Just so I'm clear, the previous version would insert a full line across the screen to delinate a different date. This current version doesn't do that, so all you see is a continuous list of emails and it takes effort to identify where today's emails begin.

Mr. Austin -thanks. i'll check back in.

Using Simple Actions, I get the same result as you -- roughly 1200 emails with that subject line in a row. Why, I'm not sure. But I would think there to be a simple LotusScript that would do as you require. Have you searched for that?
