I hate LOL!!!

I don't know, people seem to love using it, but I hate it! I think a "hahaha" is much better. True, it's a few more letters, but LOL is supposedly short for laughing out loud. There are two things wrong with that. First of all, you NEVER type the phrase "laughing out loud"!!! It's not like by the way (btw) or no problem (np). No one types that. And second, I am sure 99% of the time, you AREN'T laughing out loud.

Grrr...just wanted to get that out, what do you guys think? =)

LOL @ LOB! Ok, I really wasn't laughing out loud, I lied. :Q But on the rare occassions I use it on here, I really am laughing. What can I say, I am easily entertained. 😉

What really bugs me is people who say "LOL" during normal conversation, rather than actually laughing...

Seriously!

I don't like it either, but for some reason I find myself using it. Now I try to cut it back to only times when I am really lauging out loud.

Heh, you know, I've actually seen people say LOL while talking (with their mouths) too! That's just so wrong.

<< What really bugs me is people who say "LOL" during normal conversation, rather than actually laughing... >>

I know what you mean. I'm an network admin and thus work around a bunch of hard core computer geeks(yes geeks, I think I'm the only one there that has ever "known" a woman) and sometimes conversations with them is painful. One of them looks, talks, and acts just like Comic Book Guy from the simpsons. Another is a dead ringer for Bill Gates and has all the socail skills of a 3 year old. Then there is another that is a cross between Wolfman Jack(you kiddies may not know who he is) and Marlon Brando. I can't begin to tell you how many times I hear the phrase LOL during the day.

LOL.

Hey, I DID laugh out loud. SEVERAL times during this thread.

However, I'm not such a geek that I use it in conversation. Heaven forbid!

Ha Ha! I too hate LOL, though I don't actually hear it in conversation. If I did, I'd say something to the effect of "you geek, you sound so pathetic. Why can't you just laugh like me, because I'm obviousy superior, ha ha ha ha!"

Hamburgerpimp: Hahaha, yeah, and some of those get so long I don't even know it means unless you type out the whole thing, which defeats the whole purpose. 😉

It goes along with the whole computer "ebonics" syndrome that is getting bigger these days..

LOL i'm so L337

ROTFLMAO!!
