Those that answer the question and then before Alex can say anything they try to jump to the next clue.

I.e..

Alex: "This site is known for nefs and Rossman".
Contestant: "WhatisAnandtechI'lltakegeekycomputersitesfor$800please."
Alex: "That's right".

I'm always hit or miss at jepordy. Some nights they'll have all sorts of things on there that I know, but then they bring out pop culture the next night, and I'm like WTF

Let me guess. You watched Jeopardy tonight and the chick from West Virginia annoyed the piss out of you as well.

I like it when people wager $5 and gets it on the Daily Double... then wagers $1337 on Final Jeopardy and gets that too.

If you're really sure of the answer, why waste time by letting Alex confirm your answer before you say which you'd like to move onto next? You want to answer as many as you can to get more money right? When will you get more money... when you're going "ummm ummm... oh I know this ummm.... and answering at the lastsecond and then waiting for Alex to say yes, and then stating your next destination, or giving a fast answer and stating your next destination all in one breath? I'm sure the latter will pay off more in the end. :p

It's not really a pompous thing, some people are just really smart. For example, suppose you were on Jeopardy, and they asked a super easy computer question to you, that most people found hard. Since you're absolutely sure you know the correct answer, why not move the game along faster and state the next one to move onto?

They do it all the time. They think theyll be able to figure it out before the timer is up (and they do sometimes), and its better to ponder the question while on the timer than while others have a shot to buzz in before you. (That is assuming you have a fast memory and sure you'll remember in time).

It is pompus..waiting for confirmation is just courtesy. Regardless of how sure you are of an answer, you respect your opponents by waiting.

Though I am disappointed from the Monkey Business category where the clue was something like: "Guide Guybrush Threepwood in this series "The Curse of" this".

And no one got it =/

Eck, anyone see Final Jeopardy, where Alex goes.."Let's go to <girl's name here>..did she get it?"

And she goes "mmhmm" with a cocky smile.

I hope she loses badly next round..

I see where you're coming from, but its a game show where everyones out for themselves... is courtesy really appreciated?

If you look at it another way, if your opponent is doing this, wouldn't you be happy in that hes making the game go by faster, meaning more chances for you to make more money?

Yeah I hate the cocky attitudes... but that's still a bit different than what you originally gave for an example isn't it?
