I was at Barnes and Noble today and needed help finding a couple books. The 50 year old hippie guy gave me a shitty look when I told him I was looking for this book.

Then he glared at me when I asked for this.

Freakin' hippies....

Hippies are everywhere, hiding in the shadows, bongs ready, waiting for their moment to strike. Fortunately they forget the plan and just get high most of the time, but they're there.

Waiting.

Let me see. If I am reading this correctly, you post this HERE, on the internet under the pretense of wanting to express disgust at being "judged", which was bad move number 1. Not only that, you go ahead and summarily judge a complete stranger in the same post. Bad move number 2.

Did I miss anything?

btw... why were you looking for those books in tandum?

he was probably just going to burn them in the parking lot.

I read a lot and whenever evolution is discussed, they bring up Darwin. I prefer to get my information first hand...so I figured I would give it a read.

I have wanted to read the other one for a while now but kept forgetting to buy it.

Good idea, wait until you get to the part where Darwin back-pedals.

You're mentally weak if an encounter with a hippie at B&N makes you post about it on an internet forum.

Quit being such a prissy little bitch. You were looking for trouble and you found it in the form of a stoned hippie who obviously pwnd your ass with his empty stare. Next time stick to the childrens section, you will be more comfortable there.

:)

smiley added so that the irritable mod doesn't get trigger happy and call this a callout thread

I read Thomas Aquinas for the same reason I am going to read Darwin. I'm sure Darwin will be just as interesting.

Yeah, my ultra-conservative, devote christian neighbor had some woman drop her off as I was coming home from my motorcycle ride today (she's old and cannot drive herself) and her friend, who drove a mini-van and had some political bullshit decals on the side of her van, gave me a nice scowl as I rode by.

My ultra-conservative neighbor smiled and waved though...because she actually knows me and knows what a nice guy I really am.

"All worldviews, including atheism, require faith. ..."

Not us agnostics. We don't have faith in anything, including nothing.

1. You're offended from some schmuck giving you a glare?

2. Let me get this straight. You are offended from some old ass no-future-schmuck-at-$7-dollar-wage-at-B&M giving you a fucking glare and it bothered you so much to the point of coming home and posting here about it in ATOT?

I never said I was offended...

it was either post about this or the kid at McDonalds that blocked off the whole fountain pop machine for a good 5 minutes while he poured, sipped, poured, sipped.....

I assume the first one is one of the many books in which someone thinks they've come up with an unassailable case for god and wants to use it to make a profit. I'm guessing this based on the title alone. Someone probably thought they were being very clever in suggesting that being an Atheist takes more faith than one of the numerous alternatives. If I'm wrong about that it's got to be a christian leaning book at least. The second book is Darwin's writing about speciation by evolution, which originally flew in the face of commonly held christian belief and is still felt to be a rather worrisome bother to creationists and young earth proponents.

I wouldn't be able to predict which one a hippie would frown on, but I find it hard to believe they would disagree with BOTH of them.
