You should have walked out when he said that crap about everyone having a near 4.0 GPA.
That should have tipped you off that the interviewer is a poser and the company is going to fail.

i dunno after that quip he made about the gpa and how the rest of them have a near perfect gpa i might have thanked him for his time and left..

last thing i would want is them shoving my nose in my gpa score when inevitable stress and murphys law kicks in..or maybe even when review time comes around....

thats just bs they should be hiring you for your value to the company not as a poster boy for perfect gpas

is the place you interviewed at start with a "B" ?

my friend got grilled with those same questions u were posed a few days ago. albeit it wasn't technical.

I assume you had your GPA on your resume when you submitted it to them right?

If so, when they said that eveyrone had nearly a 4.0, you should have just looked him in the eye and said "Well WHY IN THE FSCK did you ask me for an interview?" And get up and leave...

He'll be so completely shocked and dumbfounded at such a brilliant response that he will have no choice but to hire you.

Ha... I've been to an intern interview like that. The job description was pulling/scanning and printing AutoCAD files yet they kept emphasizing that it was a "technical" job. Granted, it took me an entire semester to learn CAD, and 2 more to practice using it... and 5 minutes to print. However, it took 3 years of learning and practice to "master" Word and Excel, but that's considered garbage, highschool level skills.
 
Them: "Why was your GPA so low?"

You: "Because I felt it would be more worth my time and money to take challenging courses and learn some things that other people didn't rather than do the bare minimum allowed to make the claim that I'm a college graduate on my resume... and I did this while maintaining a job through all 4 years of college because I felt it would keep me motivated to do better in school if I had to pay for it myself than to just spend my parent's money and party in my spare time.

Them: "oh. Do you want an office with a view, I can take you to it right now, sir."

I so feel your pain.

At my first intern I did IMDS all day. Its like a BOM for the Auto Industry. BOM is Build of Materials incase anyone isn't familiar with the acronym. The auto industry uses IMDS and everyone was too old and sucked at PCs, so the program was ridiculously simple for me - they didn't eve know how to use it and just tossed it at me.

At my second one (Where they wouldn't let me do anything technical, stupid b/c I know some people who ARE doing technical work without prior experience) I am a "supply engineer". I consult to new outside companies on how to produce our parts most effectively...but that really means I read MRB history all day and find out if there is a process that is really hard. I don't even have to understand the process very well - just tell them where hard parts were. Aside form that I've been doing so much business and finance/managment junk all day, I think everyone forgot they hired me as an engineer and think I'm in purchasing. Hell on our "kaizen" (think of it as continous improvment projects) I got put on Material Finance/Planning instead of the Manfufactoring floor to set up a new cell...

In future interviews, unless its technical I'm not going to deal with it. And if they want to "put me eslewhere where my prior experience is a plus" (ie: the intern I'm doing right now) , I'm going to say no shake their hand and move along if they won't budge...

I hate that during college I made no effort to get out of difficult classes or hard professors or difficult classes taught by hard professors and stuck through it. There is no way to prove that a B in some upper level course with this professor is worth more than the hand out A's to everyone who 'signed in' for attendance with some other professor. Sucks to me for not working the system.

I had the same issue, but I just studied hard enough to get good grades in any class I took. Of course there were a couple that it didn't matter what I did, I wasn't going to get an A.
