I've never seen the show and don't care to. Whenever I see an ad for it I just have to roll my eyes when they show the main character gimping around with that cane.

Oh, I get it! He's a well respected doctor, but HE has an affliction.

I believe he had a biking accident, leaving him handicapped.

He had a clotted aneurysm that led to an infarction. The doctors wanted to amputate and house refused. He wanted a bypass. Post op led to severe pain. his pain was so bad that he asked to be put in a coma until it subsided.

During this time, while he was under, his wife... stacy... was given medical proxy and used it to to operate and have all the dead muscle removed. Against House's wishes.

since they waited so long to remove the dead muscle, he is in chronic paid.. hence the pills

Hey Loke was close.....wait a minute.....nope I was wrong, he was just increasing his post count through misinformational posts again. That scamp!

I've caught a dozen or so episodes of house, and I always see him wtih a bike. I have obviously missed the first few episodes (seasons?) and didn't know the cause. I assumed it was a biking accident, and I bleieve I came to that conclusion with good reason.

Season 1 episode 121. 🙂

The one where he was filling in on a lecture and talking about the importance of proper disagnosis. It was called THREE STORIES.

Carmen Electra guest appearanced in the episode.

Edit... he did not buy the bike until ... the middle of season 1, i think. It was because he was feeling bad about Stacy getting remarried... not sure though ... have to check the DVD package.

You have to get that the show is not about the patients or the doctors being doctors but about House being the biggest ass he can and the other characters as well.

Very informative. I plan on picking up the DVD's once I get some money together. I'd like to watch all the episodes someday.

Reference to an unrealistic movie about computer 'Hackerz'. Trying to draw parallel between different profession fields and how the entertainment industry likes to portray them. Medicine, law enforcement, and lawyers are facing the brunt of this.

And the computer geeks absolutely dropped the ball when the 2nd Matrix came out (or was it the third?)

For months, all I heard from people was how it was going to be so awesome because trinity hacks the power grid using REAL UNIX commands! And then we watch the movie and it's like a 5 second part. VICTORY!!!!!!!! Finally Hollywood gave computer geeks their limelight! Wait, where are you going? No, wait! Don't put Hackers back in! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Sometimes it's ok, but other times I can't stand it because the doctors go way out of their job descriptions. I mean for christ sake they are doctors not detectives, why the hell do they break into people's houses and cars, it's just utterly stupid. The only reason why I watched it at all is because one of two things.

1) He bags on religion, and I think thats funny, and well-deserved.

2) Its just another channel broadcasted in HD which I can watch on my pretty 50inch panasonic plasma television in 1080i.

Other than that, I hate it. Did I mention religion bashing?😛

You were molested by a catholic priest when you were a child, weren't you?

I don't go to my local brainwashing center in the first place so how could I have been molested? Besides, when I did go I went to a Lutheran Church, pastors are allowed to marry.

But like I said, I think it is refreshing for a character to bash the majority of people on that show.

I find your SIG to be really ironic, considering your hatefulness and intolerance of religion.

😉

Really, how so Karen?

Have I restricted any rights from religious people? Have I said anything of the sort other than the fact I like it that he bashes religion? Especially when we have a religious whacko in office right now, I think it is very refreshing. We see enough atheistic/agnostic hate from people like Jerry Falwell as it is, it's just fun to have at it once in awhile. By the way, for the record, I am agnostic, I just don't like people who feel the need to shove religion down your throat which is the kind of people he makes fun of on the show. But then again, you fail to make a connection between my signature and my previous comments.

Nice try.
😕

P.S.

When did I ever say I "hate" religion, or am "intolerant" of it? I did no such thing, but I guess if I don't endorse your beliefs than that must mean I hate them.

Just wanted to gripe. Does anyone else hate the recent medical programs.
I guess I should know better. Cops shouldn't watch cop-shows, and doctors shouldn't watch medical-shows. That said a Vicodin-popping asshole know-it-all, treating patients from the er to in-house, adults and neonates. I had to tell the wife to turn it off last night.

So don't watch it.

Don't take it so seriously, I was being semi tongue in cheek.

I found it to be fairly amusing that you would have a kumbaya SIG and then talk about religion being brainwashing and being happy when it gets bashed. It was funny to me. But your repsonse to my intendingly light hearted post was even funnier.

😛

Actually, it is one of the most technically correct dramatized medical shows on television, vastly better than E.R. where residents routinely crack chests open in the E.R. for every conceivable reason and medical terms or drug names are often mispronounced.

I worked at a Level One trauma center for three years that treated the second highest number of penetrating trauma cases in the state of Michigan. We probably cracked a chest in the ER a few times per year at most (and always by a trauma surgeon).

Not that there isn't dramatization going on for purposes of entertainment, but at least they don't scrub for surgery with their masks off (duh!).

M.A.S.H. was probably the best medical drama in terms of technical accuracy (for the period - 1950s).

yeah I love when they take shots at Cuddy/Cameron. Some black jokes with Foreman are pretty funny too cause he comes right back.

Take that how you will.

LOL!!

I love that bit when Cameron, Chase and Foreman all walk into House's office at the same time and Cameron says "We've got rectal bleeding" and House replies "What, all of you?"

House is funny, so I watch it.

You hate it for the same reason that I hate that piece of trash movie "What the Bleep Do We Know." One of the interviewees claims to be channeling a 3000 year old Greek Amazon. Why the fvck are people letting idiots like her talk to them about quantum physics?

Its mostly the lack of keeping to one specialty (He is the teaching attending for Department of Medicine, thats adults only, no neonates.) Plus you see 3 underlings that are what? Fellows? no residents no students. He's seeing patients in the ER, where is the Emergency Med attending or any specialist (Cardiology, Hem/Onc etc) for that matter. And the totally ignore the law about patients rights (you can't do half of what they do without a patients permission).

But what really drives me crazy is the fact that they ignore one fact. Patients often get better inspite of us, not because of us. Medicine is 30% science, 30% compassion, 30% patient teaching and 10% luck. That makes House at least 60% ******.

that's kinda the same reason i don't like that show. however, i love the shyt out of grey's anatomy.
