I hate Holidays

I don't really care what private companies do. Federal, State and local government offices need to be open to serve the public as many days as possible. I see no reason for any more than the 4 or 5 I mentioned for those offices to be closed. And maybe even open Saturday in weeks there are holiday closings.

It is getting excessive. And takes days sometimes weeks to recover i.e. people calling in sick days before and after a holiday resulting in scheduling snags and missed production schedules only to get screwed up again with another approaching "holiday"...
That sounds more like a management problem than us having too many holidays.

I do agree government stuff should be more available. But also, the processes that require people to call/go to these offices need to be made more efficient to reduce the need for it altogether. Some stuff has gotten better like being able to renew certain things online, but it's still not as good as it should be.

It's only Christmas I hate. I get a feeling of dread every time I realise it's approaching. It seems to involve more burdensome obligations (that you really would rather not be bothered with) than does going to work. And these days it _always_ entails furious arguments with family. Oh, and, along with birthdays, it's also a repeated reminder of how rapidly time is passing now, and how fast "the end" is approaching.

At least most of the US Holidays could be combined or go away completely. But this is one of four (Memorial, Fourth, Labor and Veterans) that should probably remain untouched.

We just have far too many.

I'm the opposite, I want MORE holidays! Mostly because I do the bulk of my work IT projects when people aren't working, so things like 3-day weekends are SUPER valuable for doing system upgrades without affecting business productivity during normal operating hours!

I did a project last year that took the ENTIRE WEEKEND to complete. We finished 15 minutes before production started. I really could have used an extra day to ensure uptime lol.

Christmas can go to hell. Everything is closed, runts are out of school and running around like rabid animals, family always want to get together to argue anything and everything under the sun, consumerism is rampant and starts earlier every year, and did I mention everything is closed? Other than gas stations, movie theaters, and taxi companies.

Get back to work, slackers!! *cracks the whip*

EDIT: Let's have Halloween year round, though. It's actually a fun holiday!

My 'employee-owned' electric 'co-operative' was apparently closed yesterday since my payment wasn't processed. They're not government or a bank, so it didn't seem very cooperative of them.

You know that 'employee-owned' and 'co-operative' are redundant, yes? Wasn't sure if that's intentional or not.

No banking? No mail?

No WAY man.

Just say NO.
I just transferred funds from one bank to another. Later today I'll pay off Visa.
What do you mean no banking? I haven't been in a bank branch in 15 or 20 years.
Haven't got any mail in a week, hopefully don't get any for another week.
