I hate hackers (my eBay account was broken into again)

Why? Because someone broke into my eBay account. Again.

That's twice within a month. They've already changed the password / e-mail / secret hint so I can't even log in to my account.

They've tried to sell a G4 so far:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2041103199&ssPageName=ADME:B:LC:US:1

Ran a traceroute on the IPs that changed the password and e-mail address, but the hacker was hiding behind a proxy server.

I don't know how they got in, it must be a vulernbility somewhere. I found my UT Austin e-mail account broken into this morning as well. Perhaps the two are related (guy scans my e-mails everyday and eBay sends me my password cleartext?)

The guy went in and deleted the eBay e-mail / password notification e-mails. Luckily he didn't expunge the deleted items and I was using IMAP to check my e-mail, therefore able to undelete the items.

It's starting to make me paranoid because I save my password in all my applications (you know, like e-mail and what not. Annoying to type it in every single time you check e-mail).

No more panicking though . . . partially because I've done all I can and I know it. It's already happened to me before. :disgust:

Take the usual precautions on your end. i.e.(firewall, updated anti-virus) Use your firewall as a filter to get a look at the programs requesting internet access to be sure your not broadcasting your info to the hacker/script kiddy via a trojan of some sort. Also I would start NOT having windows remember your passwords for you....yes I know its an inconvenience but its also a security risk, and considering you've been hacked TWICE already you should assume your being targeted and act accordingly. Security selections on all messenger type programs as well as mIRC and ICQ should also be setup accordingly.

Make it hard for them to hack you, and most will move onto others, easier to hack.
Unless of course your being specifically maliciously targeted

time for you to scan your system for backdoor trojans.
The cleaner

try this for cleaning of trojans. the best program for that purpose. also time for you to up your security messures. Longer harder to use passwords for starters

Contact ebay?? Looks like they want to commit some type of fraud in your name. Clean up and secure your system, then make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

That Ebay auction he listed has a line in it that says: "This pre-sale auction is in accordance with Yahoo! Auction rules and regulations."

Went to Yahoo and searched for Apple G4 and found this guy: MojoMan822

Looks like whoever listed your auction stole this guys auction text or who knows, maybe it's the guy that hacked you. He doesn't exactly have the best feedback.

Oh, and if you want some IP's:

"If you or anyone with authorized access to your account did not
make this change, please send an email to password@ebay.com.

The Password Change request was made from:
IP address: 202.39.21.122
ISP host: 202.39.21.122"

"Thank you for submitting your change of e-mail address request. Instructions on completing the change have been sent to your new email address. Once the process is completed, your eBay-related email will no longer be routed to this email address.

Change of E-mail address request was made from:
IP Address: 208.142.142.4
ISP Host: proxy-4.mozcom.com"

Keep in mind, the only computers I use are at home and work, so that would be *.austin.rr.com and *.cc.utexas.edu.

The thing is, the password I use for my eBay account isn't used anywhere else . . . I have a different password for every single account I have (a bit of a hassle sometimes, there are variations though).

I've already contacted eBay a long time ago, it was the first thing I did, just requested that they freeze (or close for all I care) my account.
