I hate group projects.

I just flatout hate them. It's 3:30AM on a Tuesday morning, with the project due this morning at 10:30. I've been here since 9PM, and done absolutely nothing productive. I've been the data/printer bitch, but done little to no analysis on my own.

All I want to do is go to sleep at this point... but I can't even sleep in my own bed, I need to wake up at 8... which means I have to sleep on the couch in the advisory office downstairs.

Gah. </rant>

Group projects in college are, at times, like work projects in real life. There will always be some factor of frustration. However, in your upcoming working life, if you don't participate in the group efforts, you'll be labeled as not being a "team player."

I know. Normally, I am... however, working as part of a large team can be very frustrating. Oh well, I have no excuses.

In my classes, I always give the option of working in groups, because I know firsthand how some people just don't like doing it ,while others do. Most group projects are never handled equally, with one or two people doing most of the work, and the others along for the ride. In my semester project (which, by the way, I'm assigning today), I hold the group option open, but if they do work in groups, they must give credit where credit is due. If one person suppose, does one section of the project, then that person must be credited for doing so in the references section. Each student is to hand in a report, regardless of whether they worked in a group or not.

I'm guessing that a good part of your future career will be a group project. This might be a good time to start establishing project management skills.
