So I have the most basic cable package that doesn't include ESPN. That is fine, I always watch football games via their website. Well apparently they have decided to filter out bowl games depending on your cable package. If I had the cable package that included ESPN I wouldn't be watching it via your god damn website you idiots. It is like morons with MBAs run that shit network now.

Translation: I'm too cheap to pay for things I want.

Hey I am too cheap to pay for cable I watch a few times a year. But the logic behind filtering out who can watch an online game is beyond stupid. Why would I watch a game on my computer if I can get it via cable? They have plenty of advertisements in the online broadcasts. So it isn't like they aren't getting revenue from me watching it. Now they wont get a cent from me since I cant watch it.

Really? ESPN isn't a pay channel so what package do you have?

Surprising there is a package on Comcast that is lower than digital starter. It is called digital economy and it doesn't include ESPN. I didn't realize it when changing the package in august. That is fine. I wouldn't pay another 20-30\month for ESPN. Just thought the filtering is ridiculous in my opinion.

If it were up to me I would drop cable TV all together while watching everything via the internet. I did this for about 2 years before my fiancée wanted the food network. It worked great as the only thing I like to watch live was football games. And ESPNs online broadcasts never cared who watched them until recently.

I hate MSNBC. That's about all my mother watches, and she thinks she's politically informed. The partisan bullshit is off the charts, and makes me want to put my foot through the TV when it's on. To make an intolerable situation excruciating; my mother's getting hard of hearing, so the mindless nonsense gets drilled into my skull at maximum volume. I'd be ashamed to have anything to due with any of their shows. I guess that's where 5th tier journalism failures get jobs :^S

I agree. I know I pay way to much for the channels and service I get from Dish. Sometimes you gotta say, f--- it, I need my damn football.

Convenience?

I think that's why they changed it - enough people were watching the streams who only had internet, and the cable companies started to get nervous.

I have to admit I have the same package as Genx87. While I miss not having access to every last thing I used to when I paid 200 bucks a month for the everything package, I still watch 98 percent of what I used to from a variety of sources.

You don't pay for it don't expect to get it for free legally. 😛

They used to have the option available. It isn't like I haven't been doing this for years. But suddenly for bowl season they decided to tack on your ability to watch games based on your cable package. Which imo is simply stupid. If I had the cable package there is no way these games would be watched on my laptop.

site is meant so that you can watch it when away from the home.

According to Wikipedia, the restriction (you must have a cable package to watch games also on the ESPN networks) was added in August.
