My work vehicle is a 2012 Dodge Charger. Ever since I have gotten it there has been an issue with raw gas fumes coming into the interior. It's been progressively getting worse. Out of four cars three of them are doing it. I know of at least one other from another department that is doing the same thing. Take it to the dealership and they refuse to do anything until the check engine light comes on. They say they know there's a problem and that it will get worse but won't do anything until the light comes on.(it's something with a purge valve, one car has actually been repaired) Great, so I get to ride around for 12 hours a day sucking in gas fumes until a damned light comes on?!?! This has to be great for my health. The damn car as 4k on the clock.

Call Dodge, not the dealer but the company and keep complaining up the chain. Also, send written complaint, be sure to include the dealership address, the owner and manager of the dealership and service manager.

Problem is I don't own the car, so not much I can do. The agency and city shop don't seem to care since they aren't the one being affected.

I drove a Dodge Charger on vacation once. Upon accelerating from a stop light, several times, I'd hear a massive clunk as it shifted to the next gear.

I am definitely not an advocate of purchasing Dodge. My Jeep will likely be my last Dodge-esque purchase.

There's a TSB for the clunk.

Don't see one for the fuel vapors.

Have you talked to your company about it? What did they say?

I would refuse to work until the issue is addressed, it's not safe for you. If you get any sort of lung/respiratory issue down the road they could be on the hook for the costs.

Drive it or a 130,000 Crown Vic with no A/C, worn out suspension.

Then I could find a new job, right to work state.

Sounds like a crock to me. "Here sonny, drive this thing around until you cough up blood or a check engine light comes on, whichever happens first."

Go have the wife beat the ever living crap out of your kidneys, then come in an cough up some blood, that oughta do the trick. <- DO NOT DO THIS.

Right to work state doesn't mean what you think it means. It doesn't mean you give up your right to working in a safe work environment.

Also if you have a choice with a crown vic, and depending on the temperature you have to drive around in, you might have a case of being forced into the vehicle.

Lawyer up, or make anonymous report to OSHA for OSHA violation you suspect is happening do to vehicles. I bet it gets fixed real fast. Keep a record of everything you do, and sue if company retaliates against you.

Or just get lung cancer.

isolated issue's should not be a reason to brand hate. All cars of all makes and models have various isolated issues.

The 2012 has a capless fuel filler. Damaging it means damaging the gas door.

Just be persistent. Dodge will fix it. Call the regional rep. They tend to swoop in and get this kind of thing fixed when it happens.

There was a TSB specifically for police chargers and fuel. Double check.

The Caravans do the same thing. Chrysler vehicles historically have had transmission issues. Customers used to freak out thinking we were renting them unsafe vehicles. Nope, they all do it streight from the factory. The company just leased them. After one season of driven near constantly, the problems start. So it was time to ship them back.

I'd never recommend anybody buy a Chrysler. They're cheaply made and just aren't built to last.

I've got an 98 chyrsler mini van with 320k on the odometer, yeah I've had to do the tranny in in once, but thats not surprising as it is always filled from top to bottom with work tools(took the seats out).

I agree with others here, just call someone higher up in the company, tell them your car is having an issue and the local dealer wont fix it. Even if its a work vehicle just don't tell him that until you must.

There isn't any higher to go in the company. I think the police graphics and light bar tips them off it's a work vehicle. I raised hell at the city lot yesterday and it's going to the dealership again Monday morning. I'll wait and see of they do anything. If not I'll try some emails to regional reps and see if I get anywhere.
