that 60% reduced reimbursement rate is not a joke, 20 years ago Docs were making 60% more for doing the same ammnt of work,

Technically a 60% decrease translates to a 250% increase.

Ex. 100,000--> 40 K 60% decrease

40000-->100000 250% increase

You bet your ass the CEOs of the drug/HMO/insurance cos arent taking 60% pay cuts.

Getting reimbursed plane trips for conferences is a crock of bull, pharm companies havent been allowed to do that for the last few years. The most Ive ever gotten was a dinner at Ruth Chris' to listen to a lecture, but I turned it down since I'd rather be home with my family.

it still happens. they receive a kickback.

You do realize you can reply to multiple posts within a single post of your own. Jesus fucking christ.

sinus infection; opthamologist couldnt figure it out, they wanted to cauterize my tear duct.

You need to see a head and neck surgeon not an eye surgeon for a sinus infection.

its a ENT actually

ENTs hate being called that now, they like being called Head and Neck surgeons since it more accurately describes their field. At least the ones around here so.

I suppose buying $60 socks is what happens when Medicare reimbursements (adjusted for inflation) are down 60% in 20 years.

its not just Mecicare, its all reimbursements from all insurance carriers 🙁

ENTs here still dont mind being called ENTs

I had to go see an ENT a few months ago, I found one under Otolaryngologist on my insurance carrier's website 😕

I mean seriously, was being called an ENT specialist that bad??!

I have'nt been to a doctor (other than a Dentist) in 28 years. I hate Doctors more than Dentists. I suppose I should go in soon for a checkup.

I just feel I don't have long to live. That's what my mind's telling me.

how about the optometrist who charges 70-100$ for a "fitting fee" (not covered by most insurance), which involves giving you one pair of contact lenses and having you report back after a few days

My eye was leaking tears and sometimes mucus due to the pressure behind it.

Wtf? My math/compsci teacher had this problem a week or 2 ago.

doctors don't insinuate they're going to just give you something. they assume that you are there to be treated and pay for the treatment and services.

inflating the hell out of the price of something you can buy at any drugstore is a retarded doctor business model that i hate... some professors try to teach us how to do that to "be successful" and get formal complaints about them regarding ethics and subject matter (you don't teach marketing and business management when you're supposed to be teaching a course about how to identify and treat and rehab athletic injuries).

Checks sig.....

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

My knee was hurting for a while from soccer, so I went to a sports doctor.
They took xrays and said it was a bone fragment embedded in my tendon.
It should go away after a long time.

They gave me a knee sock to help stabilize it while playing sports.
The doctor said "Here, let me give you a knee brace to help during sports."

He didn't say he was going to charge me $69.00 for it!
My insurance covered $20 of it.

WTF... I know it's only $50, but I hate how they insinuate they are giving you something, then charge you 1000% more for it.

Seriously, CVS sells the exact same brand and model for $7.

Assholes... go ahead, buy another Mercedes with my money!

Cliffs: Doctor charged $70 for a $7 knee sock.

You don't have a trainer at school? I pulled my hamstring and my doctor told me to go through therapy. I did the therapy with the athletic trainer at my school and it was free and probably even better than any therapist would have done it.

Are there any repercussions for rejecting a "treatment" like this? Once I found out how much the damn sock cost, I would have said balls to that.

doctors aren't rolling in the cash you think they are.

depends on specialty...saying someone is a doctor is much like saying someone has a bachelors.

Nope. You can reject anything and everything , including life saving treatment, that's your right as a patient.

QFT...but again when a doctor administers something it's not the same as just running down to your local drugstore and picking 'it' up. The doctor has used his education and applied it to your problem.

I am doing my a/c this weekend. I can do it myself for $480, a shop wants $1050.

There is a reason for that.

you got installation though.
No, he just handed it to me. I didn't even try it on.

You are not getting it. He diagnosed why you needed that device. Part of the costs are associated with it.

You are welcome to rummage around your local drugstore and try out things all you'd like.
