So, baseball starts up on Monday. I fire up my TV guide to see what time the games are next week. I can't find them.. weird? I call up Comcast. They aren't carrying the channel that plays the games. Wow, this Comcast takeover of Adelphia really did work out great for everyone..

Fvck Comcast.

Comcast called me on the phone this morning. I was trying to sleep because I am sick from all the pollen. I hate them.

Comcast took over Adelphia here and upped the price by $15.00 Why? I don't know, nothing changed, so goodbye Commcast, I'm going back to DSL. ;(

It's probably got something to do with MLB's exclusive deal with DirectTV to broadcast out of town games.

dude I am on charter. I had their 5mb/512k connection for 6 months now. Never had a problem. Now anytime after 7pm. I get 150-300 pings to places that during the day i get 14ms pings to.. So I upgraded to the 10mb/1mb package.... same thing..

WTF is going on with cable bandwith? It seems so restricted all of a sudden. Not over time.

Same here. I'm also annoyed that my Digital Cable box automatically goes to channel 1 when I turn it on as well, and they disabled the ability to change the power on channel to anything else :(

I also noticed that they made space for advertising in the channel guide. No wonder the Dish Network installers have been busy in my neighborhood lately!

Comcast took over time warner area here, and raised prices by 15 bucks as well, and had the guts to put it in a letter implying it was a good thing.

I live an hour and a half away from Baltimore. I live 45 minutes away from DC. Comcast decided not to let me see games from either, even though people in Richmond (3 hours from Baltimore, 2 hours from DC) get to see it all. However, I am too close to watch the games on anything that adheres to blackouts (including MLB Extra Innings on satellite or cable, MLB.TV, etc.). So, I have no way to watch the games of my favorite baseball team because I live too far away and too close.

I got changed from Adelphia to Comcast recently.
I also got a 15.00 boost in fees.
FYI for the last three years Adelphia kept blacking out baseball games incorrectly, claiming it was the MLB/ESPN blackout rule. Every year I would call them, and go thru a whole lot of time, but they eventually fixed the problem.
I have found that between ESPN, and INHD (I believe) they show a lot of games. Plus I get almost all the Red Sox games on NESN and the Braves games on TBS.
I took the baseball package a couple of years ago, but since I now have HD and the games are, I believe, still in standard def, the loss of the package to satellite doesn't bother me.
As to cable speeds, yeah, the did better than Adelphia at first, but they have been getting worse lately, here in Vermont.

I haven't really been following this closely but I thought they had some agreement with MASN which at least allowed the Orioles and Nats games to air on Comcast?

Read my earlier post. They decided not to carry it in my area.

I have comcast and I love it. I get 768k up and over 10,000k down (I can download at a little over 1MB/sec. and sustain it. Especially with torrents.) I have their HD programming with DVR. When I turn it on, it always goes to the channel I was last watching. For what it's worth I'm in the Chicagoland area. Maybe it only sucks in certain areas.

Given the vague description of "your area" it sounds similar to my area (Virginia, 45 miles from DC, 1.5 hours from Baltimore) and there are games on our Comcast (Prince William County).

Good for you. This is why I'm upset. Other people within the same range and even farther away are getting the channels.

Upgrading your package only means they up the max possible speed you can acheive. But it will not help your speeds at all if their infrastructure is saturated to its capacity. When the bandwidth is available, you can acheive those higher speeds, but if the bandwidth simply is not there due to overuse by others on your same cell and maxed out overall network capacity, you're screwed.

Over the past 36 hours, our comcast internet has gone to hell. If we are really lucky, we are getting at most 1.5mbps, but most of the time we are getting between 56k-300k. I called them last night and they said it seemed slow but there was nothing they could do about it. Comcast can burn in hell.
