By apps, you mean games and Quicken, right? If not, there is a Linux or Mac version of almost everything else nowadays.

You can custom configure Windows to reboot if a service fails X number of times. It's pretty easy to disable, too.

Sounds a lot like that RPC thing from way back.

If you really believe programs never crash in linux, you're sorely mistaken.

I imagine OSX is the same, but I don't have much experience with it other than the lab computers.

I get waayy more errors in Linux (stupid KDE Crash handler popup)
than I do in WindowsXP.

i have bonzi buddy and kazaa and gator and norton antivirus running 24/7 and it restarts about once an hour, i think its windows. i have 128mb of ram, just like microsoft says i should. all my programs take up 2gb of ram but its ok since i have a 3gb page file on my 4gb quantum fireball hard drive. i have a pentium processor, so that cant be teh problem since they are high performance beests. what is wrong with my computor?

honestly, you are a noob.

mine is overclocked, running a bleeding edge NF4 motherboard and SLI and dont get those.

try monitoring things with mobo monitor..
try the latest motherboard drivers ect
try a new PSU, new ram and new cabling.


and actually investigate whats causing the error.. (hint- its not bill gates.. he's not going to make software that makes your brain grow so you can use a computer)
