Go to circuit city... there are no customers there so nobody to turn the music up. Plus you get to enjoy the abundance of rebate after rebate all by your lonesome self.

Yet another Best Buy bitch thread. Only problem is that this rant was pathetic.

I just went to Best Buy in West Paterson, NJ and when I came out, my eardrums were still vibrating.

I went there to buy a digital camera, and possibly an HD DVD. While I was looking at cameras, I start to hear the THX wave, as I call it. REALLY LOUD. Someone was testing some speakers out, but it was so loud and I was about 20ft from the source. It was very loud, but I figured it was just a once thing.

Then this guy starts to play Voodoo People by the Prodigy at the same loudness. Instant headache. The bass was so big that I couldn't take it. I was trying to go towards the source to see if I could lower it, but the closer I got to it, the more unbearable it became. I only went about 7ft.

Then I retreated to the front of the store. On the other side of the store was the source, but despite the distance, it was still loud and giving me even more of a headache. He played Voodoo People for about a minute. 30 minutes later at my computer, my ears still feel raped and my headache has diminished, but still remains.

I contacted the manager. He made me wait for five minutes and then said that it was part of the Best Buy "ambiance." He said go somewhere else. He didn't apologize and didn't care about my headache, or the fact that I was interested in purchasing merchandise.

So after getting his information, I left and went somewhere else to buy what I needed. But I still have this headache. Why would anybody ever have a need to put something so loud? Why would you do that to their ears?

CLIFFS:
Went to Best Buy to buy something.
Music was played really loud and gave me a headache.
Manager said I don't care.

BEST BUY SUCKS!
he said, "go somewhere else"? if this is true,

i say, "hello, i'd like to speak with your boss."
if that doesn't pan out i would go on to corporate with explicit details and a very justified complaint.

and i agree BB sucks.

Eh, I can understand why you'd be annoyed. As much as it's nice for people to test out speaker equipment, consumers should still be respectful to other people in the surrounding environment. Hearing loss is not cool, my friends.

Oh and it's "Prodigy" not "the Prodigy." I think Voodoo People was off Experience, wasn't it? I'm more of a fan of Music Reach 1-2-3 off that album.

I would have loved.... a manager to say that to me. Then again usually when you get high enough up the chain they usually just say 'OH MY GOD THANKS FOR TELLING US! WE WILL DEAL WITH HIM RIGHT AWAY!" and then nothing...

I'm confused ...

So you went home to your computer after you heard the bass, came back to Best Buy to complain, waited 5 minutes and talked to the manager, then left Best Buy?

It's from the album "Music for the Jilted Generation." In that album, they were "the Prodigy." The took off the word "the" in their name for "The Fat of the Land." It wouldn't matter if their name was just Prodigy, without the "the;" since they are a specific group, it would be appropriate to insert a "the" and say the Prodigy.

Interesting, I never knew that they went with a "the" in the beginning as all of my songs are simply labeled as "Prodigy."

But yes, it does matter. You don't say "I heard the new song from the Prodigy", you say "I heard the new song from Prodigy." The only time you'd use "the" there is if you were enunciating the fact of who you're talking about. Kind of like saying "I just saw Prodigy." "which prodigy?" "the Prodigy!" I don't go to a store and say, "Do you have the new CD from The Godsmack?" Doesn't that sound goofy to you :p.

EDIT: My tirade on "the" purposefully excludes the use of "the" in bands that have "the" in the beginning of their band name as then it would be fine. Although, it seems Prodigy is referred to by both "Prodigy" and "The Prodigy" these days :Q.

Well at least they didn't try to sell you a massivly overpriced HDMI cable! I have helped several people ditch the instore cables and pointed them towards monoprice

Ha ha, I had a BB employee tell me a $150 HDMI cable was really good because it was silver-cored or some garbage.

It's gold plated so more voltage is able to get through! Get it right!!! lol

The sad thing is that alot of people believe what the BB employee says. This guy that i work with, who knows nothing about computers/electronics, was telling me how he bought his laptop and tv there. He paid extra for geek squad to install a bunch of crap on the laptop. He also said they told him he needed these cables to hook up his tv and what not. I just shook my head.
