Actually, funny you should mention that. They had a computer, and the dumb girl who lives above them traded her computer with theirs because she only had dialup and they had DSL, and their PC had a 56k modem (plus a NIC which we had to get at Micro Center) and hers didn't. So they were surprised to learn that they didn't need to trade their nice 19" flat CRT for a crappy 15" CRT.

Anyway, I ended up visiting both apartments and getting them both online with their respective services, connected the girl's printer, etc. Showed them how to get to their emails, and that was that, or so I thought - I visited Lynn & Ray a while later and she said "Look!" pointing to the empty table where the computer once was. She told me that the dumb girl had told them they'd never be able to reach their emails again because of their new computer, so they threw it out.

All right, sorry to keep everyone waiting. The ending of this is very anticlimactic, prepare to be disappointed.

Narrator: Nothing from that first day I saw her, and no one that has happened to me since, has ever been as frightening and as confusing. For no person I've ever known has ever done more to make me feel more sure, more insecure, more important, and less significant.

I went down to look but didn't see their car anywhere. I decided to leave the note on their door, but I knocked first anyway. To my surprise, Lynn opened it. She invited me in to have a seat.

Lynn: Oh, you drink coffee, don't you?
Steve: [trying to sound like an adult] ... I consume a couple of cups a day.
Lynn: Well, I have milk.
Steve: Oh, no. I take it black.

/fixe... wait, that's the Summer of '42

This thread is anticlimactic. Is Lynn hot at least?

Oh hell no, they're both 50somethings and have definitely seen better days.

Ray incidentally is an ex-Navy S.E.A.L. who was part of the crew meant to rescue the Iran hostages back in '79/'80 when the chopper crashed. He's missing a finger.

"I guess her injury is weather-related"

IS SHE MADE OF STRAW?? WTF???

I don't know what she does or where she works, maybe something got blown by the wind and hit her really hard.

I was tempted to let it slide because of the disappointing ending, but then I remembered the immortal wisdom of James 'Droz' Andrews ... Don't be that guy.
