I hate being colorblind

I have always had trouble with dark blues and purples. Most color deficiencies are in the red/green area for men though.

Glue colored filters to your eyes...or if you're poor, just use that colored saran wrap.

Most of the time, colorblindness is a genetic problem. Not really an issue you can solve with more vitamins or anything.

I hear you, I owned and wore a shirt for two or three years thinking it was brown and orange, then somebody commented on it and I found out it was green and orange.
I'm color-blind enough that I initially was marked as color-blind based on the book with all the circles when I was joining the military, which limits your career choices to something like 20-30 fields. I said "Look, I can tell the difference between red, green, and blue," so they gave me a different test on some machine with two colored lights on it, and I passed.

Yeah, i suck at differentiating dark blue from purple. Very bright green and lemon yellow is tough too. I falled the red/green color blind test that hides the numbers in the patterns. Although, I dont mix up red and green.

It seems that my eyes just dont have the resolution for colors that are close to either other.

No see, that's the point. I wouldn't want to wear purple pants. Ever. Regardless of shirt color. Supposedly these pants are dark charcoal gray.

Pics when I get home. No crotch shots though.

i have a little trouble with dark greys (slate color) looking like muted greens. grey, green, there's a line there that's not distinguishable sometime for me. i'll say something looks grey only to be told it's a dark green.

I don't think it's anything to do with a vitamin deficiency OP.

To me that looks like grey and dark grey.

that's what i'm talkin' about. yet, the bottom one is classifed as a green.

I am too, to a certain extend (red/green though). I never even knew until in I believe high school, we had to take those dotted circle tests when going through Driver's Ed. I could only see the first few, the rest I couldn't make out. I can tell the difference between red and green and such, but subtle hues between them I cannot (dark red/dark green, or some shades of green/brown).

From here, I can only make out "25" on the top left corner and "56" on the bottom left corner. Bottom right corner looks like "70" which is incorrect.

all of the time. if you have some sort of problem with colors that is not genetic, it's not color deficiency and I frankly don't believe such a thing exists. I have color deficiency. 🙁
oh and well let me correct that: other causes of deficiency could be brain damage or optic nerve damage, but it's always some sort of damage that really cannot be repaired through natural methods available at the moment. large strides must be taken in medical research.

I can see blue just fine, my red/green is where my eyes are screwed up. I'll see blue, and sometimes have to ask what color it is, because I secretly fear that it is purple and that my eyes are not seeing the red in it. But it typically is blue when I ask. But then, in lighting conditions that are not ideal, I'll think black is sometimes blue or blue is black. My color vision at night is royally fucked up. lmao

but i'll mix up yellow and green, brown and green, brown and red, pink and gray (light pink will sometimes appear gray), purple and red, and purple with blue. yea, it sucks, but mine are only certain shades. 'pure' colors in each category will appear correct, at least under the proper lighting conditions, which isn't always available. for example, once bought a shirt thinking it was white with red stripes, but due to lackluster lighting in the store, I was confused as it ended up being darker green stripes. 🙁

as far as correction of this ailment, well hope that gene therapy is realized sometime soon, after working with stem cells. maybe they can repair the damaged areas of the eye that cause this condition at that point.

Don't you mean 'gray'? 😛

I thought "grey" and "gray" were interchangeable. But then FF is underlining "grey", so maybe not.

Maybe "grey" is only for names.

Meh, was just piggybacking off of this recent thread. Wanted to see if anyone got the connection, heh.

Am I the only one confused by this post? You say you're color blind, but you're seeing purple out of gray? I thought being color blind was the absence of color?

The best comments in threads like these are the ones where they have connections to other threads. I am slowly getting tired of people connecting the bulk beef thread though.
