I Hate Asshats in School

BDawg

Lifer
For the past 3 years, I have been taking classes working towards my Masters Degree in Information Systems. Next semester is my final one, with only one class.

One class I'm taking now has a capstone test which pulls together learning from all other classes. The possible questions are passed out ahead of time. Questions are derived from 6 classes, and there are 6-8 questions from each class. We figured it would be easiest if each of the 7 people in class would take around 6 questions, compile study notes, and then hand them out.

One guy in the class made the assignments on the 7th. We met last Wednesday to share our notes and answer any questions we had. One guy hadn't typed up anything. He assured us that he would by Friday of last week. These notes were very important for me since I don't take that class until next semester.

Last night, I began to wonder about the notes, so I sent an e-mail to the group regarding the notes. Two people responded they hadn't received them yet. Then finally, our guy responds that he hadn't written them and wouldn't be able to. Of course, he does have all of our notes. I don't even think he was going to mention it if someone hadn't asked.

Being an executive program, we all have jobs and other things going on in our lives. If you can't do what's expected, just let someone know. Last week, someone could've picked up the slack. Now, 2 days before the exam and me without having taken the class, I'm screwed. Hopefully, I'll be able to BS my way through.

Cliff notes:
Big cumulative test
Class splits up questions for study
Asshat doesn't do his
Says he will do them
2 days before test says he won't be able to do them
BDawg is screwed

So it goes to show that you can't depend on anyone.

Yep. I do all of my own work, in college you can't depend on others here.

Damn straight. Much easier to do the work yourself and save your ass than to rely on a group. There's always someone who doesnt follow through.

Heh...my wife says that my hope that he fails out of school on his last semester is too extreme. 😀

No, it isn't. Even if he had a valid excuse for not compiling the notes, there wasn't anything stopping him from letting you guys know that he couldn't do it. IIRC you had to ask him about it...

Dam fvcking right. You can only depend or not depend on your own ass 😛

That guy blows. I'd be PISSED at the b@rstard.

Anyway HOW come your being tested on something you don't cover until next semester? What is that about?

Good luck.

They recommend that you take the class in your final semester, but allow it if you're near the end. I had 3 classes to take in 2 semesters, so one semester was going to be light.

One class is only available in Spring. Since I have a baby coming in February, I figured Spring should be my light semester, so I'm taking this class now.

Yeah, this is one of hte biggest problems with these types of classes. When I mean these types, I mean the ones that are offered at night or to people who have jobs. The problem is, it's different from regular undergrad classes where you might have a chance to take several classes with the same group of people and therefore you can spot early on who is a flake and who isn't.

The problem with these classes is that it's hard to judge who is a slakcer and who isn't. Because of busy schedules and the nature of the program, people take classes at different times, etc. So often times you find out the hard way who is a complete leech.

Best of luck and I suggest you immediately complain to your professor.

Make friends with a pigfarmer.

Or make friends with someone who owns a pony. . . That does what it's told. . .

Okay, I'm completely lost with that reference...

There was a south park episode where cartman trained a pony to bite off someone's shlong. That's what I'm thinking. But it might have been a donkey or a caribou, I'm not sure.

Haha, he TRIED to. But the pony ended up sucking on the hotdog he was training it with instead of biting it. That's one my favorite eps of all time.

Are the notes on paper or email? I would tell that fvcker to give all the notes back.

They're in e-mail. He claims he hasn't and won't use them, but we see how far we can trust him. 🙂
