I am not sure what you mean.

Like I said above, my experience with Apple Stores have been very good. Whether I needed a small thing or a big thing, I have gotten in and out quite fast, IMO.

The only problem they have not been able to solve is the wait time on the Genius Bar. I usually get to see the Genius 20-40 minutes after my appointment time (I know it is hard to gauge how long everyone will take, so I cut them some slack on that).

I mean if you want an iPad smart cover, you should be able to grab it and go pay for it.

If I go to a car dealership to buy a 10$ oil filter, I don't have to wait and go through a car salesman to get it...

At the Apple Stores I have been to, you can grab the item and walk up to any blue shirt and pay for it.

My MBP charger broke. I bought it off Amazon last year.

I walked into the Apple store today, the Valley Fair one in SJ which is a mid-size Apple Store and it was crowded as fvck. I asked for an appointment and they gave me one for 5:30pm. It was 5:20pm. I surfed on my iPod for a bit and at 5:29 they called me up to the counter.

The guy looked at my charger, plugged in their laptop and saw that you had to wiggle the cable for the green light to turn on. Ok, so he immediately pulled out a new charger. I walked out at 5:32 pm.

EASY. No questions asked. I was worried they wouldnt accept my charger because my MBP is out of warranty, and they would give me fuss about showing my Amazon receipt (which I had pulled up on my iPod touch browser just in case)

I generally don't like Apple, either. But...one of my Mom's friends is a foster mother (and has adopted) a couple of children with mental challenges (drug babies, severe learning disabilities, etc). Well...this is her story:

Michelle got one of these for Christmas. An Apple Ipad.
She loves it and uses it constantly - for school work, to listed to music, watch videos, play games - just everything.

The other day she told me it would no longer take a charge. So I took it into the Apple Store. The guy at the genius bar took it out of the case to look at it and test it. He discovered dents in the back and near where the charger link is - probably the cause of the problem.

The unit had obviously been dropped...which nullifies the warranty. Replacement would be $269.

I didn't put up a fuss because I'm sure Michelle had dropped it. I told the guy I would pay the $269 and explained that Michelle was disabled so I'm sure was not as careful with it as she should have been. I told him she loved it and used it all the time and she is such a good girl so it was worth the $269 to get it replaced.

He went to get the replacement - brought it to me and said, "We are going to make an exception because of your daughter's condition - we are replacing the damaged one with this brand new one - at no charge".

I cried, gave him a big hug and walked out feeling all warm and fuzzy.

Apple rocks!

every dealer parts counter ive been to (and its a LOT) you have to hit the parts counter (and sometimes take a number), get your part found, then they take it to the cashier, where you wait again for them to call you up to pay for it. id say its not as easy as going to an autozone, where you still have to wait in a line at both the parts counter and the cashier most of the time anyway.

the one ive been to here in chandler you can walk up to them and tell them you want to buy what you have selected, but you are still slave to their list. they will initiate the sale on their pad or whatever, then move on until its your turn to be handled. i dont much like the apple store here, they are kind of snooty.

Once I initiate the transaction with the blue shirt, they scan the item, scan my card and ask if I wanted a printed or e-mailed receipt. The biggest delay is waiting 15 seconds for a bag. ;)
