All drunk drivers need to go to hell... and stay there.

Wow that's tough to believe. Organs are destroyed much easier if you don't tense up (or react to protect your mid-body). Then again, the fact that you may raise your arms toward your head as a simple reflex may expose the organs... if it's not a head injury that causes death. I can see some truth in it, but it's tough to believe not bracing for impact leads to less fatalities.Originally posted by: NutBucket

From what I've read, it seems that because of the alcohol the person doesn't tense up before impact; their muscles are relaxed. Apparently that is a major factor in the severity of injuries.

That doesn't say anything other than the fact that they judge safety based on results of "dummies" in a normal seated position. You can conclude that if you stay in a seated position (not having anything to do with muscle tension), you'll be safe (depending on vehicle).Originally posted by: NutBucket

Well. Think about this. When car companies/gov't/etc. do crash testing do the muscles on the dummies tense up?
I can believe the theory behind this explanation, but man... talk about easier said than done.Originally posted by: Mith
Yeah you want to stay as loose as possible in a car crash. The drivers' manual that the states give you that tell you to brace yourself against the steering wheel is total crap. What that does is more easily transfer the other car's moving energy into your body so you get more damage. That's why drunk drivers usually live, there isn't much force from the impact going into their bodies.

Now you're just being stupid. The bar has no responsibility, and the beer company has absolutely none. It's like those morons that sue gun companies for shooting deaths.Originally posted by: tec699
Sorry to hear that bro. 🙁
In NJ they will put you in jail for up to 10 years or more if you kill someone while drunk.
If I was the girl, I would sue the drunk driver, the bar that he attended, the beer company. Hell... I would go after anyone and everyone that contributed to this guy getting behind the wheel drunk.
I can not stand people that drink and drive. There should be no excuse for this behavior. NONE!
