Revoked licenses mean squat. If someones going to drive with a revoked license then what's going to stop him/her from doing it? Nothing. No.. maybe 10 years in jail for a 1st offense (drunk driving) or a loss of your car. That would cut it down a bit.
 
Wow man, that's got to be the hardest thing to do ever, tell a friend someone they love is dead... I can't even imagine! Well, my condolances to his family, I pray they are alright. I am not a fan of sueing people, but this is a case where this girl sounds like she may have emotional problems for a long time.

Hope all is as well as it can be, know that those of us who pray will be.

From what I've read, it seems that because of the alcohol the person doesn't tense up before impact; their muscles are relaxed. Apparently that is a major factor in the severity of injuries.

The girl's definitely going to suffer some emotional damages. I mean, imagine she has to be there to see exactly how her mother died. Just for that the drunk driver deserve to die multiple times.

Wow that's tough to believe. Organs are destroyed much easier if you don't tense up (or react to protect your mid-body). Then again, the fact that you may raise your arms toward your head as a simple reflex may expose the organs... if it's not a head injury that causes death. I can see some truth in it, but it's tough to believe not bracing for impact leads to less fatalities.

Well. Think about this. When car companies/gov't/etc. do crash testing do the muscles on the dummies tense up?

That doesn't say anything other than the fact that they judge safety based on results of "dummies" in a normal seated position. You can conclude that if you stay in a seated position (not having anything to do with muscle tension), you'll be safe (depending on vehicle).
 
Yeah you want to stay as loose as possible in a car crash. The drivers' manual that the states give you that tell you to brace yourself against the steering wheel is total crap. What that does is more easily transfer the other car's moving energy into your body so you get more damage. That's why drunk drivers usually live, there isn't much force from the impact going into their bodies.

I can believe the theory behind this explanation, but man... talk about easier said than done.

 
Im really sorry to hear this.


I would much rather see our prisons crammed full of DUI/DWI offenders than drug users. I say pardon all the weed smokers and crack heads and replace them with asshats who drink and drive. Its sad that a person who commits a DUI/DWI offense is treated with less severity than a drug user.
 
I wonder if the victim can sue the beer and liquor manufactures, such as the victims that sue the tobbaco industry. Was the guy drinking Budweiser all night? If he was then sue the company!

they usually live because they are so relaxed when the cars hit. normal people tense up and get hurt worse. a cruel joke of fate i guess.

what a sad story, for all involved. 🙁
 
I think if you get one DUI you should have your license revoked for a good 2 years, second offense 10 years, third offense... goodbye license, and jail time. A hugeass fine (like... $10,000) should be applied to all of these, increasing progressively.
