French based software company reported ~$900,000,000 in sales this year alone!!! I mean, this is from a game like TMNT that made the majority of their second quarter. AND above all, so many gamers buy all their games used (I don't' think any of the money goes to the developers). I don't even consider Ubisoft to be one of the leaders in the industry.

I have a feeling that gaming in the future will require a d/l license that costs $50 per game and the only way to purchase will be via the website. Puts the middleman out of business and anyone trying to sell used games. If someone purchases a used game, it probably had multiple owners over the past couple years which are multiple sales the developer never earned any profit on. This applies to music, movies, etc.

Too bad. :p I'm increasingly starting to hate this company. They have become much worse than EA at this point.

what do you have against EA? Marvel Nemesis rules! Activision seems to be selling games cheaper and cheaper.

I didn't say EA was bad. It's Ubi that I don't like. They have gotten into the habit of releasing half-working, highly bloated console ports on the PC, usually with intrusive copy protection schemes, and then abandoning support (and patches) for them in a few months, even if serious problems persist. See my SCDA review down the page for an example.

I dunno about PC, but they are ok for console. I actually posted this in OT, I dunno why they put it here.

i don't think enough people buy used games to really make that much of a dent. it just seems to be a few cheapskates on AT that do it. ;)

i'm not sure anyon can be worse than EA though.

Well, EA owns like 30% of Ubisoft, so they are learning from the best :p

Francs were out of the system in 2002.

If it were in Euros, they'd be having more fun.

bUbisoft makes more incomplete games then any other. They are the one company that makes me look forward to EA games now. Atleast EA PATCHES their games.

It won't be long before they've all merged into a single corporation - Electronic THQ Ubisierra Take Two and Call Me in the Morning Softarts.

Ubisoft games are always buggy as hell. But at least they're something new, rather then EA's super sequel 12. And the ones I've had...were eventually patched to workability. It may have taken them a year and a half but they did do it. Contrast to EA, who just releases a new game for you to buy instead of fixing the old one.

French software publisher Ubisoft has announced its fourth quarter results, which show a slight dip. But the year-end revenues posted handsome profits thanks to the frenzy generated by Microsoft's Xbox 360.

Ubisoft's revenues for the fourth quarter ending March 31 were 144 million euros ($180 million) down from 219 million euros ($274 million) reported at the same time last year. However, this did not dampen the celebrations of full year revenue of 547 million euros ($685 million) up by 3 percent from the 532 million euros ($666 million) reported last year. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter was the winner in a relatively weak fourth quarter selling almost 1.6 million units. The Xbox version of the game sold 800,000 units. Peter Jackson's King Kong was also a great hit with 4.5 million copies sold until now.
