I had my wisdom teeth pulled today and I feel...

...Pretty good, actually.

Showed up at 1:30pm had a full X-ray done and was put under by 1:50pm. The staff there was really great, doctor was really fun and started easing the stress as soon as he introduced himself. The nurse was cool also, she saw my iphone and jokingly ask if I wanted her to grab some pics/video of me waking up; I said yes and now have some fun clips on me mumbling about... Something. I don't remember falling asleep, waking up, or the car ride home; though, Mom said it was very entertaining.

Pain is pretty good, as of writing I'm just on 800mg ibuprofen for pain and only have some slight tenderness. I'm being VERY careful not to get dry socket since I have a boatload of work waiting for me Monday.

All things considered, it was no where near as bad as I thought it would have been. Wish I had gotten it done sooner.

At least there's one other MAN on this forum. too many sissies here complained about how much it hurt when they had their wisdom teeth removed.

I didn't complain...I don't think.

Mine was pretty good, but about dry socket: just don't clean too vigorously with your tooth brush/water squirter thing they give you.

And just eat yogurt and mashed taters. Personally, I didn't even take vicodin or any drugs. I took an advil every 6 hours, and this was on day 0.

I'm going to have to have this done soon. How long do you eat like that? Also how big of a difference is it if your tooth has emerged vs under?

Protein fruit shakes and cornmeal for me, I've just been gently rinsing with salt and vinagr water after the clots took hold for just long enough to get the food out from back there.

I had all four wisdom teeth removed in a single sitting, and all four were severely impacted. My bottom wisdom teeth (the worst to remove) were sitting on their heads basically!

They were basically on the way to emergence, so sort of poking the gum, if that makes sense.

As far as consistency of diet, if you keep your teeth generally in good condition, you will probably be able to start eating more solid foods the evening of the 2nd day. Third day you definitely should start eating more solid foods (but take it easy, by solid I mean softer meats, maybe chicken or pork, maybe some broccili, no carrots though) and by the fourth you should just keep it up.
For breakfast I always have fried or scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and some cheese, so I didn't have to make any major adjustments to my diet. I love Yoplait yogurt, so the first day wasn't a big problem (I had my teeth removed on thursday in the morning).

I'm fairly tolerant of pain though, so I didn't want/need the vicodin. I think the most annoying thing for me was the numb tongue/cheek, but that wears off soon enough. Playing World at War eased the time for me.

So about 6 - 7 days and back to normal? Doesn't sound too bad since I only need to get two taken out. One showing one under

Haha!

I just remembered that while I was still drugged up at home my boss called me asking about a charge code for my time this week; after realizing that I was still stoned off my ass he told me he would take car of it.

Man, what a fun day.

I have to get all 4 pulled some time in the next few weeks (go in for a consult on tuesday). I'm a little nervous so glad to hear it went well for you.

WTF were you thinking? You didn't ask the doc for some perc's or vic? It's not every day that you get your wisdom teeth pulled, might as well make the most of it for fucks sake.

I remember the nurses telling me that I wouldn't remember anything after waking up. Wasn't the case though, and I recall waking up to them bitching each other out over some crap.

800mg every 6hr is not a deadly dose and I am feeling fine on that alone.

Yes they even make 800mg ibuprofen tablets.

When I had my wisdom teeth taken out, the antibiotics were the worst. All I could eat was liquidy stuff, jello, pudding, mash potatoes, and that diet combined with antibiotics was a pretty bad experience. I was so sick of pudding by day #3.

I had all 4 taken out at once and the first day was just purely flopping out bloody gause and no eating.

Not if you haaaaate the feeling of being druged, I hate not having full control over my actions.

As far as I can tell the bleeding stopped 3-5hrs after I got home (bit fuzzy on time). I'm a bit scared I started rinsing too soon an flushed out some clots but so far no pain even after the pain killers have worn off, so they must be down deeper in the holes.

EDIT: Check that, still bleeding a bit so I put some more gauze in.

When I dislocated my ankle I was given the powerful pain meds, and I never took them for this very reason. If I was truly in a ton of pain then I would have, but it never hurt enough to warrant being completely out of it.

Had my wisdom teeth out a couple of years ago. All 4 were impacted, completely sideways and causing terrible headaches.

I didn't go under for the procedure. They told me that unless I have a low tolerance for pain or just couldn't handle being awake for it, it was better to stay awake.

It was very strange. I remember that there seemed like 4 hands reaching into my mouth at once, and I can remember the sensation of them hammering on the teeth to break them up so they could be taken out. Finally, I remember feeling the threads being pulled through my gums and thinking 'oh shit, they're sewing me up!'

Not too bad, the procedure itself was far less painful than the headaches. I had very little swelling and went back to work the next day. Picked up a prescription for Vicoden (sp?) but only took aspirin for like 24 hours to deal with some residual soreness
