I had my brother give me a mowhawk

Over the weekend, I had my brother cut my hair, and he gave me a mowhawk kinda as a joke. I thought it was rad, and kept it.

Now its Monday, and I still have it, but im wearing a hat at work today.

I am 23, but I work at a Power Plant, and the average age here is 53 or so, and I would generally consider it to be a fairly conservative work place. Dress code seems to be jeans, and a collard shirt, although I have never seen or heard of one explicitly.

My question is if anyone else working in the same general type of work environment, has tatoos, or non-conservative hair cuts, and how do coworkers react to them, if at all.

Heres a wiki article i looked up

I really hate mohawks, but I think that my coworkers would react okay to it. I certainly wouldn't put anyone down for their hair.

Expect to be talked about quite a bit though.

I spike my hair like I stuck my finger in an electrical outlet on occaision, just to see the reaction from my coworkers. (It isn't so weird, because some of the other designers here to that daily anyway.)

I wouldn't do a mohawk.

I have a half sleeve of tattoos in my left upper arm. It goes from my left bicep up to my left shoulder. I work in a professional environment. Fridays are business casual, but I dont wear polos like some of the other guys because of my tattoos. I dont shavedaily though, so I often go into work with the scruffy look. No one seems to mind, and if someone asks, I'll just say Im growing a beard. :D

A few years ago, I got really drunk with friends and they buzzed my hair and gave me a mohawk. Then I made them buzz it all off. The next morning, my girlfriend picked me up from a friend's apartment. I was missing my socks, my shoes, my wallet, and my hair. Her face was priceless when she saw me.

Sweet. Last summer I had my friends give me one... I had it from June sometime to October. It was about 3-4 inches long by the time I cut it off. I liked it but got tired of spiking it up everyday (I had to warm up Knox gelatin in the microwave to get it to stay up since my hair is so fine).

Why do people hate things like mohawks.

I am not trying to defend, or promote the haircut, but im curious why it has certain reactions from people. Is it racist or nazi? I have always been under the impression that it is just a punk rock type thing.

It's just unprofessional and everyone can see it.

If i was going to dye it, it would definitely not be green. I have done green before, and my head just looks like a fuzzy tennis ball. I would probably be up for a cool redish-orange, maybe with some black streaks.

But I am trying to conceal it while at work, as to avoid annoying comments, or questions so i dont think the bright colors would be the way to go.

They are stupid looking (to me). It would be like someone walking in with underwear on outside of their pants or a painting of a banana hanging around their neck from a multicolored chain.

Stupid looking.

Go for it!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that people with mohawks are stupid or anything, I just find them silly. The kid across the hall has an inverse mohawk. The only joy I get out it is knowing that he probably gets shoved in lots of lockers at school. :p

I can't think of a single coworker here who has an odd haircut. I don't even know how work would respond, possibly they'd ask you to change it? I'm not sure.

I understand what you man, I also generally find them to be "silly" or un-needed.

But once you do it its is rad to see yourself in the mirror with a mohawk. Kinda makes me want to go out and hunt sh!t with a bow an arrow. Or maybe thats just my 1/32 American Indian.

Also the looks I get from some people are just priceless, most people look away and dont make eye contact, I think thats kinda interesting.
