Short story
- Camry got into a wreck Tuesday
- Nearly declared a total loss by the other party's insurance company, but just barely made to be fixed.
- Picked up a new Pontiac G6 (V6) at the rental car place - Immediately heard a ticking sound, pulled over the side of the road, foud a big roofing nail in the tire.
- Now stuck with a PT Cruiser as my rental vehicle :(

Always get the rental insurance.

Rental insurance is the biggest rip off in the rental industry. If you have full coverage insurance you most likely are covered in a rental car and should never get the rental insurance (check with your insurance company first obviously).

I know, I used to work for a couple different car rental companies. They train you to push the rental coverage on customers because it is the biggest profit maker in the industry. LDW, CDW, or whatever they call it in your particular area it's a rip off.

Dude, chill....you only crush the rim and tire in a case such as this, not the whole car....sheesh.

That's great, but I still take the rental insurance. I don't want to file a claim and have my rates go up just because of a rental car incident. The rental insurance protects you against that.

I liked it, it was the coupe with 3.5L V6. Didn't even get to punch it or try some engine braking :(

Nail was right at the rental place, though at first it was a rock, since there was gravel in the parking lot.

Do you frequently have accidents? Or accidents that are your fault? I haven't been in an accident in over 10 years...longer if you look for one that was my fault.

You are throwing your money away.

I never take the collision damage waiver. It is a total rip off.

I owned a 2005 G6 GT and loved it. I was in a wreck last month and rental I received was a 2006 G6 V6. Not as agressive in shifting, but it was nice to see the changes in model year.

Then I went and bought a 2006 G6 GTP and I love it!

Very cool to drive all three models in less than two weeks, too. :)

No, I have not been in an accident for a very long time. However, if I were on vacation and happened to get in an accident, the last thing that I would want to deal with is the thought that my insurance rates were gonna go up because of it.

Given the fact that an accident is a rare occurance, it is probably not the best financial move ever... but somehow I'm OK with that. I go on vacation to relax and to get away from everything. It's worth the extra money to me so that I can wash my hands (financially speaking) if something were to happen.

I'm sorry about the PT Cruiser. I drove one of those for three days and I'm way to big for it. I had to use the passenger side armrest otherwise I had to pack myself into it. Sh!tty little car.

Hahaha nice video, I beat the crap out of my rental cavalier too when some stupid fat ass was too busy on her cellphone to notice the red and rear ended my 3000gt :( I wouldn't have beat on it so bad, but her insurance were being major assholes trying to push no fault on a rear end after she admitted to the cops her fault.

In Florida, a rear-end collision is pretty clear cut, no matter the circumstances. You can "brake check" people and get away with it.
