I was sick for the past few days and I spent all of yesterday on the couch. I'm feeling woozy, light-headed, VERY cold, and very weak, plus my heart is beating very fast. I decide to take my temp to see what's up, and it reads 104.0 degrees! :Q That can't be right...so I tried another thermometer...same exact reading. Weird...

So I take some medicine to get the temp down, and I'm feeling much better at this point (not freezing, dizziness, etc.) and I take my temp an hr later, it's at 102.5...still seems absurdly high...

All in all, I took my temp this morning, and it's 98.6 on the dot...what gives? Shouldn't I have been dead/passed out @ 104? I don't see how the thermometers could be messed up since it took my regular temp just fine... just curious to know how bad I was yesterday.

My chemistry teacher once said that at 107, the proteins in your blood start to become rearranged. That would be very bad. I'm not sure how accurate that is though...

The critical temperature is about 106F, if you get a fever higher than this - consider yourself dead..

I held 105+ in ICU after my spinal cord injury. I can remember laying on a cooling blanket with the A/C cranking and fans blowing.... I was in traction on a ventilator.
I've noticed some effects too, my memory isn't as quick, and I can't think of big words as quickly anymore.

The highest I've ever had was 103. I'm a race car driver, and got really sick two days before a big race. The night before the race, my parents took me to the emergency room because I was so sick. But, I actually raced the next day, because I was in a battle for a championship, and didn't want to lose like that. :D It was like 90 that day, and with all my racing stuff on I was SOOO hot. I ended up finishing second, but after I got out of the car, I had to be helped to my parents motorhome because I could barely walk. I paid for it by being so sick for the nextweek that I couldn't even get out of bed. Got a good finish in the race though. :D

I don't think so. If you had hit 110 you would not be typing that message

The last time I was sick (a few weeks back - less than 2 months back) I had gone up to 105. I regularly go up to 105 or so if I have some heavy fever. Infact i nearly went to class with a temprature of 103.8. If I didnt pop in the thermometer I would have never known. Luckily I did and had to call in sick. I was feeling all refreshed and full of energy until I popped in teh tube. Infact if I dont go around 104 or stay at a prolonged 102 I will eventually get tired.. otherwise i normally have plenty of energy. Ofcourse if I throw up in between then its a totally different thing.

I hit 104 a couple years ago. I was out of school for a week with a terrible fever. That was bad.

I got to around 40.5C, which is 105F as a kid. The only thing i remember is that my parents were really worried, and that the next day someone mentioned to me that they were about to call 911.

I've had 105.x a few times in my life. The last two times were when I had a bad case of pneumonia and the time before that with a horrible case of mono that landed me in the hospital for a week... that was about 18 years ago. At that temperature, I start to see things and the line between sleeping/fantasy/waking/reality gets a little bit blurred. SUX.

Korey Stringer (Offensive lineman for the Vikings) died from heatstroke with a temp of 108.8º
IMHO, anything >104º and you should get your ass to the hospital.
