I guess this high-tech unemployment isn't so bad...

I mean, looking on the bright side - I've learned how to bake! Not only have I learned how to bake -- I've become DANGEROUS at it. Pies, Cake, hors d'oeuvres... and my sauces.... let me tell you about my sauces!

I've learned to cook Thai, Japanese, and Cantonese.

I've got my first "from-scratch" whole-wheat & 7-grain bread rising right now.

I've also gained 20 lbs. :Q

I'm still just as unemployed, but I guess it's not been a complete waste. My wife says I should write a cookbook. She claims to have gained weight - but I'm unable to see it. (nobody ever said I was stupid) 😉 (at least as far as women and weight go)

So I can see it all now -

"Man CAN Cook"
The 21st Century Survival guide for men.

"Cooking is sexy"

I'm an overnight success - and I can retire.

SCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHMACK! (painful sound of reality smacking me upside the head)

*this little diatribe does not necessarily reflect the views of management. No animals were killed or harmed during the making of this post. Some animals are killed and cooked during the food preparation process - but that's another issue.

(Just going a little nuts over here - looking for a job for 16 months now.)

Well - the whole-wheat 7-grain colon-blow bread came out alright. Wasn't as high as I'd like it to be, but I'll adjust for next time. (must remember... more gluten flour) :Q

Though I haven't had the unfortunate experience of being unemployed, I still welcome you to the realm of men that can cook 😉. My ex-wife once told me that the only reason she stayed around for the last couple of years was the food and sex (in that order unfortunately). As for the weight gaining aspect, you can find some excellent (and complex) lower-fat recipes and meals floating around. Enjoy your new hobby, and don't forget about it after you find a new job.

Cooking, eh? Me.. I'm still trying to work through George Carlin's book "Cooking with heat!" :Q I'm sure someone will recognize that one. 😉

Nah.. seriously, since I've been a bachelor all my life, my cooking skills aren't too bad.. hey I've made it into my mid-30's so far. 🙂

What I got our of your post was that you are not hurting financially and seem to be happy. One doesn't the time or money to cook whole-wheat & 7-grain bread when the bank account is empty! Good luck and God bless!
