I guess cops need to really meet quotas now....

Gotta love cops. Or not.

You have no way of knowing how long it's going to be before the baby comes. Far better to get to the hospital ASAP than to jsut assume you have plenty of time. Especially when it's the 2nd or later child, they can come out very quickly.

I wish there was a special service someone could call in those situations. One that could arrive in a few minutes and get you to a hospital quickly and safely.

Oh wait, there is...it's called an Ambulance :D...cop offered two call the ambulance for them 2 times and they refused and $100 is nothing for a ticket.

The cop didn't do anything wrong. They should have just accepted the offer for an ambulance. Instead we are in the middle of one of these 'zomg I'm pregnant therefore I am better than everyone else!' discussions.

My favorite part:

"It was so obvious I was pregnant."

Are you an idiot? You and the cop must get along well: A woman in labor and you'd demand to see her belly for proof that she's actually pregnant.

how would he know?

Jesus...have you seen a pregnant woman before? It's kind of noticeable.

yeah, i heard it's pretty hard to put a pillow or something underneath your shirt to look like you are pregnant.

Oh my god, you're retarded. You're seriously retarded. So let me get this straight- you imagine that someone will drive down the break down lane, see a cop, go "oh shit" and reach into the backseat, producing a perfectly round pillow, and stuff it under her shirt, convincingly looking just like this, and therefore get an escort to the hospital where she will birth her pillow.

Please, don't breed. Apparently you wouldn't believe your partner that you were successful, anyway.

For some reason the name of that picture made me

Let me guess... you don't think a woman has ever actually lied to a cop saying she was pregnant when... *GASP*... she actually wasn't?

The point isnt whether or not she was pregnant. She obviously was and should have accepted the ambulance when offered. And to those saying they just wanted to get off at this 'exit' please read the ENTIRE sentence... they THOUGHT it would save them some time.

Look, why do people get tickets for driving in that lane? Because it's freaking dangerous to drive in that line. Was there a hospital closer to them where they could have avoided this? Yes.

And by the way, I have seen plenty of pregnant women. Some are more obviously pregnant than others. Hell, I've seen one that you wouldn't even know was ~ 9 months pregnant when wearing a coat.

Ambulance = $$$$$ for a service you can do yourself (if non-critical). Also, ambulance in rush hour isn't very fast. Ever been stuck in traffic when an emergency vehicle was trying to get through?

$100 IS nothing for a ticket. They still saved a lot of money vs. calling an ambulance.

If I were them, I'd gripe a bit, but I'd pay the ticket. C'est la vie.

During rush hour, they get tickets because they're trying to avoid traffic and piss everyone else off, and if everyone drove in that lane all the time there would be no place for driving in an emergency. It also provides space for cars that break down (hence 'breakdown lane'), so people aren't allowed to use it as a regular lane of traffic.

NOT because it's "freaking dangerous". You think the chupacabra was going to leap from the embankment and devour them as soon as they pulled into the breakdown lane?

I bet if these people had an accident and killed someone, the prevailing attitude in this tread would be much different.

My personal opinion, if the emergency is large enough to warrant emergency driving techniques then you'd better take your ass to the nearest hospital.
