I got yelled at for saying Happy Holidays...

OK as I was getting my meds this morning and going back to my apartment, I said "Happy Holidays" to a lady and she went off on me. She was saying that I should put Christ back in Christmas as that the reason for the season.

I mean good grief, this is the first time I experienced this and I live in a town with lots of churches. Then I mentioned this to guy I was riding with my med cab going to groups. He was upset that people were saying Xmas as he thought was taking Christ out Christmas.

Now I have always said Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Xmas all my life and this is the first time I even ran into anyone who took offense to two out of the three.

Have you guys ever run into this before?

In the YT video I posted, the video ended with "Happy holidays from..." and got a lot of comments to the effect of "IT'S MERRY CHRISTMAS", or "THERE'S SANTA SO IT HAS TO BE CHRISTMAS".

Got yelled at for not being RC

Religiously Correct. That woman doesn't realize you have the right not to be Christian.

And I'm not. in fact I'm actually an atheist. I wonder if she will freak out? I've had people freak out after informing them that I am one.

Stop persecuting the poor Christians

Next up: "I got yelled at for creating a parody thread." The only question is whether it will appear in this thread or another.

There is an historical Jesus

No, there isn't. The first mention of Jesus was 50 years later by a person who was not in same place at the same time that imaginary Jesus supposedly lived. The wannabelievers accept that as evidence. And that, after 2000 years of searching for evidence and trying to connect the dots is the VERY BEST that the Jesus-freaks can come up with. A 3rd person story from a guy that admits he wasn't there and never met imaginary Jesus.

LPT: If someone is nice to you, it is polite to accept their words in the spirit it was given. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, Ramadan Mubarak, etc. There are literally people walking around with suicide vests and driving trucks into crowds of people and doing all sorts of awful stuff...someone wishing you a good holiday time, regardless of your personal beliefs, is no reason to get offended. And if we want to get historical about things:

I guess next time someone says, "good morning" I should counter with, "it's never morning in hell." Should produce the same result.

Well, I'd share sentiments with the lady. It's kind of a sign of the times, people are more christophobic than they used to be. Which is insane. I guess the woman's seen enough to get peeved, and you happened to cross the line with her. You can't fault her position, but perhaps she could have handled it more gently (who knows), or maybe OP is hypersensitive and hyperbolic.

Hopefully people are wise enough to know some may use the HH term innocuously, without ill intent, or ulterior motive - and not overreact.

What I hate is the fact that some organizations are forced to NOT say Merry Christmas or have decorations etc because it might offend people. Screw those people that get offended at every little thing, I will say Merry Christmas if I please and put as many decorations up as I want. There are a lot of situations in public places where people arn't even allowed to do it. It's sad really. I fear that eventually this will spread to the general population, like they will ban nativity scenes in front yards etc. Christophobic is really a good word for it, because these types of rules always target Christians specifically. Muslims and other religions are always welcome.

You want to know where that shit comes from? The Christians. Try putting up Kwanzaa decorations or a Menorah or Allah-forbid some happy Ramadan greetings and it's the Jesus-freaks that scream holy hell. The lack of tolerance for public displays of religion came from Christians and they are having done unto them as they have done unto others. Amen.
